Here we go again, another M3 vs C63 battle :D First 4-door M3 vs C63 comparison.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The M3 won all categories but engine/transmission (which was close 752 for the C63 to 750 for M3), in total: 3131 points M3, 3057 C63.

The M3 is better on track and wins this test since it's the "better one". But the C63 is one of the most dynamic Mercedes models. They didn't like the PP, which adds not much to the performance but worsens the comfort.

0-100 kph|0-200|slalom18m|braking dist|weight|handling course
M3: 5.0s | 15.9s | 66.8kph | 35.6/34.6m | 1655kg | 1:38.7 min
C63: 4.6s | 15.3s | 65.4kph | 36.2/35.4m | 1820kg | 1:40.0 min

M3 was on Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (18"), Manual gearbox.
C63 had Pirelli P Zero (18") and the Performance Package (030).

(Thanks to the german agent for this info :D)

EDIT: tire correction

Re: Autozeitung: 4-door M3 vs C63 AMG

Thanks for the info. Another test which confirms all other previous tests comparing the C92 M3 and C62.

are you sober PC? :D

C92 M3 and C62. = E92 and C63

;) :D

As I suspected, the E90 got the exact same result as the E92 when compared to the C63.

Are there any more info on this article? 74 point difference is a lot bigger than I expect and I dont really agree with it.

No more info but 74 point difference isnt much difference when you can score more than 3000 points IMO.

Interesting. If my memory serves me right the C 63 won against the E92 in the previous Autozeitung test.

You are right but becuase the M3 Coupe wasnt as practical and roomy as the C63 the M3 lost points. Now its more "fair" test, 4-door vs 4-door.

Yes but that's the thing what surprises me because Autozeitung usually favors driving dynamics over space and comfort.

Unfair test as the BMW had much grippier tyres than the C63. :t-crazy2:

Both PS2s and P Zeros are very similar non R type tires but don't let facts get in the way of the excuses.

And looks like C63 even had the optional locking diff that comes with the PP (I though the PP also comes with R tires??).

I don't think so, it's not a Cup, it's just a simple PS2. That's not much grippier than the new Corsa's.

P Zero Corsas are R type tires and much gripper than PS2s and in same category as the PS cups.

If what JM wrote is right, C63 just had P Zeros which is similar to PS2 that M3 had. But I though the C63 with PP came with P Zero corsas and if that was the case even more impressive result by M3 to beat a C63 on R tires but I doubt that.

yes and the M3 Coupe beat the C63 there but if you added all the points, C63 scored the best.

Im so sorry guys!

I just had a talk to my secret agent. Correct tires are:

"M3 was on Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (18"), C63 had Pirelli P Zero (18"), so both were on street tires."

Doesn't PP on the C63 come with 19" tires ?

obviosly not. At least not on this C63, Mercedes gave to AutoZeit for this test. BMw promised Michelin Cup+ for M3 put it took like months before it was available for the M3 and the buyers. Maybe MB is offering it later, just in time for sportauto supertest :)
