135i = 38,950 euro
S3 = 36,050 euro
R32 = 33.675 euro (with manual gearbox)

----------------------------------------

135i with its fantastic engine, excellent chassis, recreating exterior - the BMW 135i Coupé is a type of winner. Better comfort than the S3. Clear thing: Owing to the sum of his good characteristics the Bimmer belong on the first place.

With a round time of 1:50,28 minutes on the Nuerburgring. Despite the electronical Diff (LSD) the 135i has problem with traction and that affect the laptime.

From speed 100 the Coupé stands after 35.2 meters.

The marvelously harmonious interior, very direct steering and the precisely engaging six-gear shift.

----------------------------------------

Place two goes to Audi. Superior all-wheel drive, reliable and spielerisches handling - with it stiff chassi the AUDI S3 make a good figure on the racetrack. But the hardness is no good for everyday use. In the S3 the passengers will notice every detail on the road.

On its fastest round the clock for the AUDI stopped at 1:50,04 minutes.

----------------------------------------

On third place comes R32. With 250 HP and 320 Nm torque he is however the weakest in the comparison.

R32 manage a laptime of 1:54,23 minutes.

The best leather bowl seats in the comparison cost happige 2950 euro extra.

The steering wheel flattened down is very stylisch, in the everyday life however not first choice.

For 1825 euro you can get the double clutch transmission DSG for your Golf.

Wonder if the damp-looking track affected the laptimes, because even the 130i 3-door hatch was very close to the S3 in same-day testing.
Color on that S3 is awesome. BMW marketing have really missed the boat with 1er color selection; supposed to be youthful line, so why the conservative choices?. Though I must admit, the profile shot of the 135i is great, even though I'm pretty sick of that red by now.
They should offer something like this:

135i + that Audi orange + R32 seats = :)

135i Looks great in those pics :D The rear look really good in motion!!!

Good to see it;s winning reviews as well, Does this certain review come with a write up or anything etc???

Wow, the 1-series looks great on these pictures, but so does the S3!! :D I would choose the Audi here. Just like the interior and the exterior. I'm not an Audi fan, but here I like it most!

135i is so ugly. Its funny that S3 still faster than 135i:D

Funny yes, because it will only be faster in 1 out of 10 tests, when the conditions are perfect for the Audi.

Anyways, the 135 is simply in another league compared to those two VAG products. 1st place with two fingers in the nose.

I dont think so. S3 is very effective on tight tracks and without a real LSD the 135i will have tractionproblems on tight tracks and that will affect the laptime in a negative way.
But the differences in laptimes are insignificant. The suspension in S3 is much stiffer and 135i is more comfortable car than a S3 for everyday use. And in the realworld the 135i will beat the S3 in acceleration duels, 306hp/400nm vs 265hp/350nm.
My choice is obvious.

Mine is very obvious as well.

And maybe BMW decides to make the 135tii with 340 hp as a hardcore 1er.

And a 135xi for all weather control.

:bowdown:

lol there are loads of tests where the S3 beat the 335i or posted similiar times in dry conditions, and if its slightly wet its S3 all day easy. So the same will apply for this ugly car called the 135i

I dont see how the 135i is simply in another league. Its a over priced ugly gimmick. I would rather pay that little extra for the much more purposeful 335i.

I rather save 3 grand and get the faster, better looking, nicer interior car which is the S3. The rear of the 135i is just so ugly.

You are one of the funniest people here! You are not just the average fanboy, you are a hateboy! :D In this test, presumably in the wet, the S3 was as fast as the 135i... to the rest of us that does not say much about other conditions.

And when it comes to styling - I think the S3 looks dated. The Sportback is much better!

So, I would go for the faster, better looking, nicer interior car which is the 135i. ;-)

Post of the year right there... and let's not forget which one of these cars has the "Engine of the Year Award"... but that's probably gimmick too

Really? Which tests are those? I have to ask because the 335i has shown it can lap in the same region as the RS4.
Kudos to Audi for the laptime here, but we don't know exactly the conditions. That Audi had to sacrifice ride comfort against a car on runflats should put things in perspective.

I would rather pay that little extra for the much more purposeful 335i.
Don't see how the 335i is more purposeful. You get a larger car, a heavier one (60-80kg by roadtests thus far), without the 6-piston Brembos. You'd also need to specify the sport suspension.
And as far as design, the Audi is clean and sharp. But quite boring and anonymous in the company of the BMW and VW. It could pass as a refined VW, which technically isn't too far from the truth.

lol haha are you forgetting that the 2.0TFSI has won engine of the year too :D:eusa_doh:

335i is sexy looky. 135i looks like ass. The car looks like it was designed by someone with downs syndrome. Not pretty at all.

So, I would go for the faster, better looking, nicer interior car which is the 135i. ;-)

Define faster cause in day to day non straight line racing, ie around corners with dips and bumps the S3 with its quattro will spank 135i all day long. Just like how in real life performance a UK spec evo will spank a M3.

Dont you think its a joke that 135i is only 60kg lighter than 335i? Why is the 135i such a fat pig?

@ Poverty - please don't turn this site into autospies!!!

Accept other people point of view and get over it - we get you think the car is ugly just like the rest of us think it looks better then then the S3!!!

In its category maybe, while the 3 liter twin turbo won THE engine of the year award. :eusa_clap

Also, what do you think this test was? They drove the car around the ring and the Audi and BMW were almost neck and neck. What is all this talk about getting spanked?

I like the look of the R32 better than the S3.

The S3 looks dated IMO from the back while from the front it is simply okay.

The 135i looks beautiful (angel eyes) from the front while the the rear has issues (looks to grumpy).

The R32 looks clean and modest.

So overall I have to go with that here based on looks and style alone.
