First and its important, its from Automobile and its not a head to head comparsion. Done at different times.

The carmag explained the bad acceleration for the M3, it was the tires fault, didnt grip very well.
On sidenote this is the only presscar available here in Sweden, also Gustav from M5board.com have borrow this presscar :D so you can say its well-used :D

This month m5board.com is doing another airfield event, with the same M3 against other RS4 + other nice cars. The fight continues :)

Just_me, when will you say "Great test, congrats to Audi", without trying to find explanation about tires etcetc... The RS4 kicked the M3's ass in this test on every single point!

like I said, this wasnt a head to head comparison and they did talk about the tires. A dutch carmag has done a head to had test, guess which car was the fastest and won ;)

Shall we count all the RS4 B7 vs M3 E92 tests together maybe? Cause then you won't have any explanations my friend. RS4 has beaten the M3 is several tests now.

Really? and the M3 has beaten the RS4 so what does that tell you? perhaps that both are great cars ?

Seriosly, Im just mention what Automobile mention so I didnt come up with the explanation. Im just a messenger. Dont make a big deal of it.

the funny thing to me is that the M3 is struggling to beat it..
it might beat it in head to head..but its not easy..
and the RS4 is a out of production car.. and the M3 is spanking new..

i guess the M3 doesent dominate like it used to..

PS
note that im not saying that it doesent still dominate..

BMW says the new M3 is more of a GT car than the sportcar it used to be, just to please the american market. We have already seen reviews comparing M3 to C63 and the conclusion is that M3 has better comfort and easier to live with than a C63. Who thought that would ever happen?

So what can we make out of this? perhaps that BMW done the M3 softer and MB has done their C AMG more hardcore.

Time will tell if bmw made the right decision and also if AMG made the right decision.

PS, I would like to know which tires the RS4 used, if it was those Pirelli R-tires they used in sportauto.

PS 2, the 0-100km/h time for the M3 was 5.4 sec and not 5.1 sec.

^ohh so even slower.. something seems wrong 5.4 is way slow..
i think the old M3 did 5.4 on some occasions..

yeah it seems that the M3 has gone soft..
not really good given that the stiffness and hardcore bit was the pride and joy of the car and its fans..
i wonder how they will adjust..will they jump ship.. or change their mind and start liking GT type softer cars..

time will tell i guess...

M3 CSL and a possible M3 CS later on?

Like I stated earlier, this carmag complained that the car didnt grip very well thanks to the tires and therefore bad acc times.

Really, who gives a damn about these kind of tests between RS4 and M3:t-hands: ?I mean, these two are so close in almost every figure(power, torque, acc.,braking) and ever carmag or TV show will say completely different things from time to time, depending who drives it and weather conditions..I´m little tired about it..seriously:cool: ..I love new M3 beyond measureable limit:eusa_pray and at the same time I adore RS4:bowdown: ..so,am I crazy or what:eusa_thin ?

Point is the Audi was not even at the test.

Im sure you know what a great deal tires does. If not, heres a point... The RS4 B7 was beaten by the E46 M3 around a track when both cars ran non R-tires in one test (the only one I know of when the RS4 did not use the R-tires)...

From the top of my head this is the worst results yet for the new M3. Great work Automobil... :)

This test was performed as a comparison between the new M3 and E30 M3 Sport Evolution.

Edit: Shame they did not test the RS4 against the M3 (with proper tires), that would have been a great test. They tested the C63 in the same issue so why not let that tag along too!

Everything is pointing at the CSL.

M3 never dominated RS4 in a straight line. The B5 RS4 was even faster than then E46 M3. Just a little historical perspective.

But then again, every possible chance at pinching BMW is welcome, or so it seems... :t-hands:

I did'nt see those lap times, thank you for pointing it out!

Good work on standard tires don't you think? And they even said, as opposed to others, that the M3 was a bit tricky.

We already seen what the new M3 is capable of with R-tires (sportauto). Tires does make a difference. Imagine a Formula 1 with street tires :D
