The C350 has been getting a really good reviews last one by Evo and they loved it,swedish folks what's wrong with u?:D

Why they didn't get the C350? and isn't the 330i now has 272hp?

Natural competitor for the C350 is 335i and not 330i. In Europe is this logical competition between C-class and 3-series:

320i vs C180
325i vs C200
330i vs C280
335i vs C350

And from September 2007, the 3-series sedan and touring gets the new DI engine with 272hp

I really don't understand why MB has let themselves get so behind the times with their engine range (V6 and 4Cil). Despite how good the rest of the car is, the engine range is letting the car down in comparisons, though in isolation I'm sure they're fine.

this engine sucks..and so does this comparison
how can one gain points in 2 categories wich to me are almost the same?
Driving Dynamics.. and sporty car..haha whats sporty car?

and still the mb lost by 2% against a car with a heck of alot better engine..
so mb wake up and give the C the engines it deserves.. so we can see some real battles:D

Lol a swedish test here. Yes I read it.

Reason why they pick 280 is becuase its closer in price to a 330i. In fact in Sweden a C280 is more expensive than a 330i so therefore 330i vs C280 was a natural comparison.
MB has themselves to blame taking overprices, thats why C280 was compared to a 330i here in Sweden. Think about it you get 258hp instead of 231hp and with better fuel consumption than C280. 330i is getting an engine update to 272hp later on and I doubt the price will raise. So maybe MB Sweden should lower the price for C280.

lol What a funny comparo. The MB gets thrashed in driving dynamics and handling characteristics and still barely loses.

It does make sense to compare the cars based on price and not on engine size...cost is what the buyers in Sweden will be looking at...

I wonder if the C was fitted with the agility package and if the 3 had the sports package. :t-hands:

Also what's the difference between Driving Dynamics and Sports Car? :t-crazy2:

And whats with the styling scoring? :t-crazy2:

looking at the pictures, no M-package or AMG kit on the tested cars.

I dont remember the differences but they do like that on every car they test. Its a special category.

And whats with the styling scoring? :t-crazy2:

Styling is based on emotions, subjective opinions from the test team

------------------

Swedish AMS has a head category called EQ which include categories like driving fun, engine&gearbox, Comfort, Quality feeling, Image/design and all these categories have subcategories.

Then there is head category called IQ which include categories like Economy, Safety, Space interior, Trunkspace, ergonomics, energi&environment and all these categories have subcategories.

and then there is a special round called "Sporty car".

There is absolutly no wrong with this test. If you are a swede and speak swedish language you would understand.

"sporty car"

heh, that reminds me of a chinese auto brochure i saw a few years ago.

Engine & Gearbox + Driving Fun + Steering (all from EQ) = Sporty Car
Wouldn't you think so? So why have a seperate 'Sporty Car' category?

I know what styling refers to, what I disagree with is magazines placing objective values against something so individual and unmeasurable. Fair enough they should feel free to comment on the styling in the review, but scores should never be allocated for this category. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! :D

thats why they have EQ and IQ. The "sporty round", you decide if you want to include or not. Like I said its a special round. EQ is based on emotions and IQ is what ordinary people care about.
Choose the categories you care about, the final conclusion is just an opinion just like any other carmag.

I dont have time and lust to explain further just to make some upset fans happy and dissing the carmag is just plain childish (sorry if it sounds harsh but truth sometimes hurts).

Looks like MB really need to update their engines!

I'm sure the car it's self is good, but the 3er is still beating it!

It seems to me that MB trys to skip engine generations, with the V8 engine, it had 302bhp while BMW's had 333bhp, then it got 360bhp, but the MB engine gained 80bhp in one go!

i speak swedish..and it still doesent make sense to me..so im sorry
the sporty car part is retarded..
everything swedish is not thought out:D

:t-cheers:

Just Me, how am I 'dissing' the magazine? I am simply questioning the methodology and some of the criteria (styling) used. The use of styling as an objective and measurable criteria by any magazine (AMS, Car & Driver et al.) is poorly thought out in my oppinion. This is not an isolated incident.

Nowhere in my posts have I questioned the result of the test. Clearly Mercedes is on the back foot at the moment when it comes to engine performance which many "MB Fans", myself included, have aknowledged. No sour grapes over the test result here. ;)
