One thing the 'enemy' does better

Recently, the various 'fanboy' comments seem to have gotten out of hand on this site and this was my one true refuge from the barren wasteland of forums overridden with overzealous 'kids' just bitching about brand X cause they love brand Y. So, to get everyone on track, I thought to have this thread.

My idea is simple. State which brand you lay your allegiance to. And if you keep shifting around, please state which manufacturer currently entices you. The next step is pretty obvious in that please state ATLEAST one point from the other brand which YOU think is BETTER than the brand you like. It can be anything. Maybe you like the head of the company, the heritage, the cars.

Please no flaming anyone for their reason as to why they think that point is better than the others. AND NO FLAMING THE BAD POINTS OF THE 'ENEMY'. This is a strictly good post and no flaming any company whatsoever.

Let the posting begin.

EDIT: I forgot to add one important fact. Please keep the enemy in respect to only German Car Companies considering this is a German Car Zone. Also, I know people prefer Porsche etc. overall but in all fairness please try and keep your allegiance and comments regarding the three major brands since only those three truly compete against each other in every single segment.

My number one company is BMW. I've really liked them since the 8 series, but they became my absolute favorite when the E39 came out. Now I've already had a few internships with them and on track to working for them when I graduate from college. Safe to say that BMW runs in my blood

Audi: Love their interiors. Kind of the new "cool" thing to drive. I can see why people like their understated look.

Benz: Well what do I need to say? This company symbolizes luxury. There may be companies like Infinity, Lexus and Cadillac... but MB is the grand daddy.

BMW)- This is the "James Bond" brand. This is the brand who doesn't take it from the "Mann." This is the brand who will tell you to "Go F**k Yourself." "My Way or the Highway." "I Don't Care if You Don't Like iDrive" brand..........Da pimp of all brands.

Audi)- This is the brand where people suffering from O.C.D. work. Everything must be perfect. No compromises. "You Must Find Every Little Mistake."..........The simple, but powerful brand.

Mercedes)- The rich golfer's brand. "Everything Revolves Around Me" brand. "No Sharing" Brand. "Somebody Come Wipe my Ass and Parallel Park for Me" brand..............The Donald Trump mobile.

Well,

Favourite German brand: Mercedes

Audi: Immaculate interiors and extremely appealing non-offensive designs.

BMW: Just the benchmark for any company which wants to learn how to correctly balance sports with comfort and safety, especially their M Division.

Im with Lamborghini. about Ferrari...they suck. period.

j/k, lol. the best part of Ferrari that I like more than Lamborghini is their involvment in GT racing. I dont care about F1 much because it doesnt get reflected in their road cars the way GT racing does. I wished Lamborghini would at least give SOME manufacturer backing when it came to teams wanting to race their cars.

If you have a favorite brand, well, I guess that's a good thing if that's the way you feel. As for me, I love German cars, all the German brands make fantastic automobiles that are unmatched by any other brand of origin; build quality standards are the highest among all, technology (though at times overzealous in concept and function) takes functionality and the driving experience to the next level, engine technology is tuned for maximum performance and efficiency which is unheard of and often times proves fleeting for other brands from other countries that try to accomplish the same goal(bar the Japanese), the list goes on and on. I think all the German brands have their pro's and cons, I think it's kind of silly to choose one over the other, because they all make truly amazing automobiles that would make any of us grin from ear to ear any day.

So here's to the continued prosperity of the GCF brotherhood, and most importantly the German car makers.:t-cheers:

BMW...I believe the best car company in the world...i think the z8 is the nicest looking car ever and the m3's are the best cars ever...Nothing is better than a blue BMW

Audi has better looking seats in there cars

Mercedes i think are more noticeable to the public

My view goes....

1) Porsche, the only car company that's simplistic design never losses it's appeal. The only company that can produce a car that cost $100,000 and murder a car costing $400,000.

2) Audi, best interior designers in the world! You can't help but to feel special when driving a Audi, and it's not because of the publics perception. This is a car you want a be alone in.

3) BMW, un-matched driving dynamics, cutting edge technology. These are the guy's eyeing you at the light just incase your feeling like a tuff guy.

4) Mercedes, very comfortable ride quality, un-matched named recognition, heritage that goes back to the turn of the century, these are the people more likely to tell you about the $20,000 ear rings they bought for their wife for a anniversary gift.

My favourite brand is...well it's brands. I love both BMW and Mercedes but for different reasons.

Mercedes: Unmatched luxury even in today's tough competition. Plus their history is very prestigious.

BMW: Perfect driving dynamics with a decent amount of luxury and comfort. The company I want to work for the most...especially the ///M division. Plus, most of you know I'm the biggest M3 fan on this site!!! :D

Audi: I've gotton into Audi's lately...and by lately I mean late 90s. Audi is kind of in between BMW and MB when it comes to their stance. They have luxury and good driving dynamics but that is also their downfall because I think they need to find an Identity rather than be an in between brand. They have lots of potential.

Porsche: Beautiful but lazy designs. Well, they are the benchmarks in performance and there is no disputing that. It's just that they're not all that practical when you have a family.

Nice thread.

Well Mercedes-Benz is the one that does it for me, hell I now own one! It is the look, the feel, the function of the whole thing that does it for me. It feel and drives like a all-encompassing vehicle. No other car matches this for me. It drives like a tank and can sometime feel like it handles like one too, that is where I envy what BMW has been able to accomplish. Audi does the whole youthful, sheek interior thing better.

I think Deutsch's post (#6) pretty much sums up how I feel also, because at the end of the day the perfect garage for me would have some iron from all 5 German brands, MB, BMW, Audi, Porsche and VW.

I'm a Euroean car fan by default. They just look and feel more interesting than American or Japanese cars which by default are pretty much boring. Then gain what other country can really compete with Germany's collection or brands, or England's of even Italy's. From Germany to Sweden, from England to Italy there is nothing but a dazzling array of choices. In just any one of those countries along lie the world's most coveted and sought after brands, how can any country compete with that? I guess ultimately it isn't fair to expect them too.

The whole Mercedes-loving thing started when I first saw a brand new W124 300E on the highway while riding with my dad. I knew what a Mercedes was, but wasn't familiar with the details, and as they say the rest was history.

That 300E dazzled with details, engineering details like different sized exterior rear-view mirrors, the single-blade wiper, the spring-loaded seats, the small vents in the sheetmetal on the 300D diesel models. For a kid my age at the time whose favorite brand was _____ (I'll never tell), the Mercedes was of another planet. Then came the 300CE I nearly died looking at its stark beauty.

BMW got its start with me when I first saw a 635CSi. God I wanted that car and a girl I used to date (well date isn't the word I guess since we were really kids), her father had one. I used to tell her father I was going to buy that car from him when I grew up. Needless to say I was devestated when he wrapped the car (my car!) around a telephone pole! I also remember as a kid the 5-Series that had the pipes poking out the middle, I thought that was so hot then. That 6-Series, the 1988 750Li and the 1989 5-Series, specifically the 535i (a nameplate that is returning!) and the the 850Ci sold me on BMWs back in the day.

The attraction to Audi started with the 5000 cars. Strangely enough the whole unintended acceleration thing is what made me curious about Audis. I love their spartan but comfortable/functional interiors in the same way I liked Mercedes'. The rest is history. The first "V8", the Coupe Quattro and the old S4 (the hot version of the old 100/200 series) drove the Audi brand to stardom with me.

A little history on how all 3 became popular with me!

Oh...one more thing....the German car companies "enemies" are the Japanese car companies, not each other. Toyota would like nothing more than for Lexus to replace Mercedes in every way, but they'll never do it unless Mercedes goofs up again like they did from 1998 till recently with cheaply made, unreliable cars because what Mercedes does best Lexus still hasn't caught on yet. Ditto for Nissan and their Infiniti brand, they want to displace BMW so bad. Acura, well they haven't got a prayer until they change in a major way! Audi has nothing to fear from them in the least, but Lexus and Infiniti are going to become a serious problem, especially Lexus when they get serious about Europe.

MB is my fav..

BMW does sporty cars better..

Audi´s quattro system is better..and interior in some cases are better
.........................

And here is what i think about the brands:

well i dont see the others as enemys but i get your point..

My fav is MB.. a person that calls himself carfan cant hate MB cause they invented the car.. so thats just a big NO NO:D

As for BMW.. i love Bmw to death for giving us cars like the old 6er, Z8 and M3 CSL.. how can you not love a brand like that..
they are true masters of sporty everyday cars.. love it:D

Audi.. well audi has never been anything ive conciderd until the previous A8..
and now i feel that audi makes superb cars.. and i salute them for their interiors.. and for their groundbreaking Quattro system..

VW: Ive always liked VW.. if i where ever to buy a car just to get from A to B..i would get me a VW..its german..its solid.. and has great resale value..:D

Porsche: What is there not to love.. without porsche the sportscar industry would not be where it is today..
true masters from stuttgart:D

As a rule I hate Hybrids.

The Lexus GS450h is the exception, though.

It looks good, drives well, fast, quiet, comfortable and beautifully made.

Speaking in Lexus, I'm not a fan of them either.

That said, however, I really do like the looks of the new Lexus IS series (except that hideously ugly IS-F) and the new Lexus GS series.

lol i hate richboy and rob..
dont make fun of me..when im being such a nice guy and lying about the other brands qualitys..:D.. hahah

BMW:
- cause they're the sport(y) guys along with Porsche from the germans;
- liked the looks of the z8 and 8er, but IMO they're not real BMW;.
- didn't liked the looks of the E39 and E38 FL, but they're real BMWs;
- as a masstige manufacturer, they're the benchmark;

Porsche:
- the other sport(y) geman;
- creator of a sport car from the Bettle and of the 911;
- as a niche prestige/performance manufacturer, they're the benchmark;

Audi:
- interiors;
- Quattro;
- non-offensive design;
- always follow ... the middle path, here they're the bechmark;

MB:
- german prestige (better);
- german luxury (higher end) (better);
- the anti Porsche/BMW comfy-cruiser guys (good cause we need such guys too);
- othertimes they have it, CLS; (better)

VW:
- uh ?!;
- hmmm .... ?!;

No other brands besides German brands allowed!!! :usa7uh: :D

audi is my fav, i find their design language and brand perception match with my personality better. its brand image is not showy, in-your-face like some of the other luxury car makers. in the case of US, most people dont know it's expensive. not to mention their exceptional engineering prowess.

bmw, hard to deny, is the ultimate driving machine, driving one always puts a smile on my face.

mercedes, the best overall package, it's comfortable, powerful, and luxurious.

favourite brand: BMW: best drive and loving the agressive designs

Audi: elegant designs with great quality interiors. best in it's class

MB: If you want comfort and work out all the bumps in the road, just gliding, this is the brand
