DSG Problems

Hi new to the forum..

I have a skoda octavia with a dsg transmission

but its the same as the golf or jetta...


anyway i bought the car about a month ago and im having problems where the gearbox slips sometimes...

diagnostic shows transmission speed sensor but i had it checked and that is not causing the problem. I have also changed the dsg oil and the filter.

Basically what would happen is that when the gears are about to change, the car shakes somewhat and the revs shoot up with no gear change for a few seconds...

I really dont know what the issue is and have had 3 mechanics looking at it now...

Any ideas ?

Sounds like there is a delay between the selection and rengagement of the two clutches. I have no idea what caused it, sounds like some sensors aren't doing its job or a hardware issue. You car should be under the warrently, just tell them to give you a new gearbox.

Wheels magazine ran an Skoda Octavia as one of their long term cars and their car needed a gearbox replacement after a few months as well. Can't remember what was their problem but I can find out.

You can try checking this part called the mechatronic module. It has been the cause of many failures in my country, especially with the 7-speed dry clutch DSG.

The skoda octavia Wheels magazine ran as their long term car suffered from a premature wear of the bearings on the output shaft of the gearbox. The tester complained of a rubbing noise when the car was moving. So I guess they have a different issue with the gearbox compare to yous.
