G-Class G class 2012 facelift

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.

Some winter driving tips from Mercedes-Benz. ;)

Never seen MB use so much CGI in a video before. Also notice how one of the fog lights aren't working in the end of the video? Who ever approved that video is treading on a very fine thread.

Good eye. The G has the cornering light function in the foglamps. ;)

Cornering light function

The cornering light function improves the illumination of the road over a wide angle in the direction you are turning, enabling better visibility in tight bends, for example. It can only be activated if the dipped-beam headlamps are switched on and the foglamp is switched off.

Active: if you are driving at speeds below 40 km/h and switch on the indicator lamp or turn the steering wheel

Not active: if you are driving at speeds above 40 km/h or switch off the turn signal or turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position

The cornering light function may remain lit for a short time, but is automatically switched off after no more than three minutes.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class AMG models spotted

Our spy photographers have snapped a few shots of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG and G65 AMG SUVs. The beasts are currently undergoing winter testing in Sweden, and from the looks of things, buyers will be able to chose between two brawny boxes when the vehicles receive an official debut next year. The G55 is likely to feature a 525 horsepower, twin-turbocharged 5.4-liter V8 engine along with the subtle grille and bumper updates we see here. The globe-crushing SUV will also likely receive larger, more capable brakes as well as an updated interior. Otherwise, we can expect the G's sharp angles to soldier on in perpetuity.

If the G55 isn't enough to make you giggle, Mercedes-Benz is also planning an even more exclusive G65. That terror will come boasting a 6.0-liter, twin-turbo V12 engine good for 612 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque, though only 200 units will be produced. How's that for maniacal? Word has it the AMG G twins will take a bow at either the 2012 Detroit Auto Show or the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Off-Road technology – its function and advantage in detail

The G-Glass is regarded as one of the best cross-country vehicles. Responsible for this reputation is the purpose-built construction design of the G-Class, for which no effort is spared in order to safeguard unstoppable, rugged off-road capability.

In regards to technology the G-Class offers everything the driver desires. The design, being geared towards off-road driving, includes all essential components of a genuine cross-country vehicle. Besides the mandatory all-wheel-drive system, the G-Class is equipped with: a stiff ladder-type chassis frame, rigid axles, a transfer case with off-road ratio, as well as three fully lockable differentials.

Inform yourself about the off-road advantages of these components and the way they function by means of the animations in the link below. Just choose the technical component you favour most to learn about by clicking on its link.

It seems the G65 AMG will mean the G-Class goodbye. I SUV to fight the Bentley is expected to replace it, being well above the GL.

I am agree with you about airmatic.
Also notice Electric parking brake, distronic plus, electric folding mirrors, I think new cockpit will be similar as new M class
