Dennis wants to give Alonso winning car
15 November 2006

McLaren team boss Ron Dennis is convinced his team can give double world champion Fernando Alonso a strong package in 2007. McLaren has had a tough season in 2006 - the team was unable to win any race.

In 2007 things should go better for McLaren. They signed a number of major sponsor deals and double world champion Fernando Alonso. In 2007 Ron Dennis wants to see changes. "We want to win the championship," said Dennis. "We just need to build a winning car. Alonso is a champion and we must build him a winning car in order for him to clinch the title again."

But Ron Dennis realises it won't be easy to win the championship. "It is very difficult to win the Formula 1 championship. Last year we saw a team (Ferrari) win nine races and not win the title. We even won ten races in 2005 and not win a title."

"Alonso knows how to win races and McLaren knows what he will need to win races," Dennis continued saying. "Alonso isn't just a quick driver, he is very good in communicating with the team which is very important."

Who knows ?!

[Why, oh why, did Alonso leave Renault ?!]

Before Alonso, in 2001, the team scored only 10 points, only one more than Jaguar.
The Benetton-Renault, back then, F1 team, efectively was only better than Prost, Arrows and Minardi.

But even Alonso in his crapy Minardi could sometimes challenge the BRs, witch
got him the test driver post in the 2002 now rebranded Renault F1 team.

By comparison McLaren's 2006 season looks very rosy, and McLaren's history tells us that they can leap from 5th or 4th place to chapmions next year.

Still, I'd rather see them fail thus Alonso going either back to Renault or to BMW next to Kubica. :D
