Senna (McLaren) Button fired up for home grand prix ![]() Jenson Button is looking forward to his home British Grand Prix this weekend, as the Brawn driver looks to extend his superb run of victories. The Briton has won six of the first seven races of the season and will arrive at Silverstone as the clear championship favourite for the first time in his career. "The British Grand Prix is always an amazing weekend and I can't wait to race at Silverstone in front of our home fans on Sunday," said Button in a team preview. "To be leading the championship going into my home grand prix is something that I've never experienced before and it puts a smile on my face every time I think about it. "I've raced at Silverstone from some fairly tough positions in the past but the fans have always been so supportive and I'd love to give them a performance that they can really enjoy this weekend. "We took a good step forward with the balance of our car in Turkey but know that our closest competitors are going to be good in the high-speed corners so it will be an interesting weekend. If we come away with a good result, I'll be so happy on Sunday!" Button admitted, however, that he is sorry it will be his last race at Silverstone, which will make way for Donington from next year. "It's strange to think that this might be our last race at Silverstone and I can't imagine not having a British Grand Prix so we'll be going all out to put on a fantastic show." Team-mate Rubens Barrichello is also fired up for the British race, the Brazilian a big fan of the Silverstone circuit. "Silverstone is one of my all-time favourite circuits and I absolutely love racing there," he said. "The track is fantastic as it is one of the few remaining on the calendar that are high-speed, fast-flowing and really allow you to let the car go through the quick corners. "My win here in 2003 was really special and it's fantastic to be returning this year with a car that has the potential to compete for the victory. "There's a lot of expectation going into the weekend as our team's home grand prix but we will remain calm and just focus on doing the best job that we possibly can."

| Nice to see Hamilton in top ten. Hopefully he'll at least managed to push the car to Q2. Other than that it will be an all Brawn weekend again. There's nothing to stop them. |

| Great to see Vettel on the Pole again!! Hope he has more luck this time! Well, goodybe Mercedes, Ferrari and BMW! It looks like they can produce good F1-engines (see Brawn GP), but with their cars…well, that's another story.

| Although Vettel is on pole, we all know that there is a 90% chance of a Brawn car winning the race. Button can very well beat the rest on strategy and win. |

| God, there's no passing what so ever. This is boring as hell. Those who wanted TC, ABS and active suspensions banned, spec tires and restricted engines I hope they're happy now with Formula "driver skill, cost efficiency, level the playing field, better racing" boredom. How much more boring is it gonna be next year with equal fuel loads I wonder ?! Webber, Rosberg, Button, Alonso, Hamilton none of them can do a thing. It's so boring. |

| boring ? who would have thought that red bull can be so dominant after the past races. the updated car is another masterpiece from adrian newy. brawn's had to fight against the low temperatures, but i guess even with temperatures above 30 degree the brawns would have had a hard time against the red bulls. funny that a renault engine won, but alonso could hardly overtake a damaged bmw. |

| I'm more happy for F1 than what I am for Vettel -- a Brawn victory this weekend would have been devastating for the championship. But still, this season is still Zzzzzzzzzzzz, especially when all the former champions are struggling in the midfield like rookies. There's just no excitement what so ever, like watching division 3 soccer. |

True. They need to get rid of these crappy cars, rev limited engines (it really killed this race) and crappy Flintstone tires.

Martin Brundle made a good point about the car's engines hitting the rev limiter when they get in the slipstream at the end of the straights. All these restrictive rules that are ruining up the sport. Even in the un-restricted V10 era with grooved tyres, the overtaking was better than this. Look at 2003 for example. The engine rules need to go out of the window and we need to bring back un-restricted V10/V8s or the sport needs to adopt turbo-charged engines with adjustable boost. This crap cannot go on. For every thing they improve (slicks), they mess 2 or 3 things up (engines, tires, electronics).

| Diffuser cars not allowing overtaking - Massa Racing series F1 Date 2009-06-22 By Motorsport.com/GMM F1's new-look cars of 2009 are travelling more closely together, but it seems they are no easier than before to overtake with. After the British Grand Prix, it was the double diffuser in the spotlight for spoiling the efforts of the Technical Working Group to radically amend this year's cars for the benefit of the spectacle. "Just as was planned by the FIA, the cars did produce less downforce," said Ferrari's Felipe Massa. "But with the decision to allow the double diffusers, this plan was turned upside down," the Brazilian told Auto Motor und Sport. Toyota's Timo Glock adds that even the moveable front flaps this year are not providing a benefit to aid overtaking. "When you're in the turbulence of the cars ahead, all your grip is lost. You're sliding on all four wheels," the German said. ************* These DD diffusers and the rev limit really mess up the racing. |
