Wiesmann back in business

Wiesmann has managed to rise from its own ashes as the company has filed an application to dismiss the insolvency proceedings.

In August we heard a rumor about German specialty marque Weismann filing for bankruptcy in the Münster District Court, a rumor which eventually turned out to be true. Now, the company's management board has filed an application to dismiss the insolvency proceedings and on December 16 they will meet with the creditors to elaborate a future plan for the troubled carmaker.

Hopefully everything will be sorted out and Weismann will be back in action with a brand new model. Their latest product is the GT MF4-CS introduced in March at the Geneva Motor Show, a model created to celebrate the firm's 25th anniversary limited to 25 units each carrying a starting price of 193,193.28 EUR.

Good news for the German car fans. Old world exotic styling meeting new BMW mechanical were a good and unique recipe. IMO Wisemann was worth saving.

Brilliant. The world needs small automakers such as Wiesmann and Pagani. I hope BMW will let them continue to use the racy V10 used in the E60 M5.

I hope Wiesmann will not to get into danger again to go bankruptcy. Centurion said it already: the world need such small automakers. It´s very nice to see their products in the automobile everyday life. (Is it correct worded?)

I do agree but the v10 is already replaced at Wiesmann. The Gt Mf5 has the twin turbo M5/M6 v8.
The v8 from the e92 is the last chance(?) of a NA M engine from Wiesmann in the MF4S.

That's sad to hear. It would be cool if Weismann could differentiate themselves by using vintage NA BMW engines married to the latest gearboxes.

Wiesmann is officially back, new model coming by the end of the year

The boutique German sports car maker is officially back, after the two British investors secured the legal protection of their purchase.
The company was recently purchased by brothers Roheen and Sahir Berry and after a long and troubled period which involved a court and an individual opposing to the sale, Wiesmann is ready to be revived.

Anita Tatalovic said to Auto Moto und Sport that their plans for the company are delayed thanks to the recent legal uncertainty but now they are excited to work on a new sports car that will come out of the company’s manufacturing plant in Dülmen in late 2016.

The new owners said that they will work closely together with the company’s founders, brothers Martin and Friedhelm Wiesmann.

For those of you who don’t know much about Wiesmann and its models, the company was making retro-looking lightweight two-seater sports cars that used BMW’s finest powertrains, resulting in some of the most impressive cars you’ve probably never heard of.

There is no info on what the new car might be, but we expect Wiesmann to use the same recipe since the founders of the company are still related to Wiesmann.

And for those who don’t know what Wiesmann was, check the video below with a 2012 review of the crazy BMW M5-powered GT MF5.

TVR isn't the only automaker to come back from the dead, as Wiesmann has struck a deal to source engines from BMW M.

Little is known about the company's upcoming model, but Wiesmann said they have already completed its pre-development phase and signing a contract with BMW will ensure the car has a "Bavarian high-tech heart."

There's no word on which engine the car will use, but Wiesmann has been using BMW M engines since 1993. The company added the agreement will "secure the future of its completely new generation of sports cars."

In a statement, Wiesmann CEO Mario Spitzner said "In the pre-development phase, which has now been concluded, we worked together extremely well and we are delighted to be able to collaborate with our reliable top partner BMW Group."

Wiesmann will reveal additional details about the car in the future, although the company has already said the model will be built from scratch and will incorporate new materials and technology. The vehicle will be positioned as a luxury car and the company will "carefully develop the characteristic Wiesmann design."

Wiesmann isn't exactly a household name, yet they've built a number of coupes and roadsters over the years before suffering financial difficulties in 2013. The company was then acquired by Roheen and Sahir Berry three years later.
