W111/W112 The Forgotten Flagship: The Mercedes 300SE (W112)

The Mercedes-Benz W111 is a line of full-sized luxury cars produced by Mercedes-Benz between 1959 and 1971, including four-door saloons (1959–1968) and two-door coupés and cabriolets (1961–1971). The saloons’ bodywork featured distinctive pointed tailfins that gave the models their Heckflosse nickname — German for "fintail". The Mercedes-Benz W112 is a luxury automobile produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1961 to 1967. Marketed as the 300SE, it was available as a standard sedan (its principal form), stretched sedan (Lang), and distinct coupé and convertible.
Thanks Chris :usa7uh:

I particularly like the Coupé and convertible models of the W112.

What a great old car, I used to think these models were quite strange-looking, but I have come to really appreciate them. It is an informative article.

Still, my very favourite Benz from that era is of course (as you know Christian:) ) the W100, I wonder, do you have any articles about the W100 Chris?

I love the W111 and W112 coupés. GORGEOUS. One of Paul Bracq's most timeless and elegant designs.

I have a Mercedes Enthusiast with a big report on the W100 as well as Karl Middelhauve, the M100 engine and W100 expert. Will scan them ASAP. :t-cheers:
