Well, Padi, Panterror, and all other forum's member who enjoy biking, let's talk bikes :)

I'll start, by quoting Panterror, from other thread.
Put me on a bicycle from Udine to Brescia and i'll do it without stopping with 2 bottles of water in a record time, no problem, just don't force me to do running/jogging. ;) :D

Would you believe that 3 months ago i drove 155 km with a lot of climbing, twisty roads that included 10 km of macadam, with an average speed of 38 km/h without stopping? ;) Yes, i did... That's my personal record and i want to break it this month on a route that's 172 km long...

Will keep you posted about that... Just need to decide which boy will take me to that record, Cannondale or Colnago...:D

That's impressive; my personal record on pure road is just 60 km, and 52 km on mixed surface which included 22km or city (mostly cobblestones and tiles) and 30km of sand, with huge gradients.

Sadly I live in a country where driving on roads is one of the easiest ways to get killed by a car runnning over you and driving off road means you're going to get assaulted/robbed/raped/buttf#ck. It's ironical b/c if it wasn't for the shity people, this must be one of the very best countries to do biking, as every conceivable weather, geographical accident and road condition is available...........

Regards!

I do only mountain biking (enduro, FR, DH) and am often out for even seven hours, usually only five though.
Got a "pimped" Spec Enduro Comp ATM but am swapping it for some FR/DH bike, hopefully still this year. Will keep you guys posted

I've a very basic chines hardtail MTB, and recently bought a Diamondback, which I plan to completely tune. I'll take pics on monday and will publish them, I need some advice on how to proceed.

Haven't tried a full supension, downhill one; perhaps by the end of the year I travel to the Andes mountains and will rent one, to run a route called "death route" which goes several downhill, going from 4000 mts to 2000 mts (like a reverse Pike's peak :P)

Regards

Buying one of these frames, only certain parts are these:

Gears (1x10) Sram XO
Saint Cranks
Mavic 823:s on Hope 2 Evo hubs (tubeless set up)
Avid Code R brakes to begin with
Raceface Atlas FR bar
Straitline Vertical Wedge stem

Still wondering if I'll get Totems or 36 Vans.

Super stoked :D

//Yeah, its blue but planning on painting it light green, same graphics.

Padi, I need your help with the new trainset for my bike. I forgot to take pics, will do that tomorrow. BTW, my actual bike is "Lambo" (ithaca) green kind of colour, and love how it looks. So go for the light green scheme!

Yup, I will paint it for sure at some point, just love the colour of the 2012 model so I'll try to get the same shade. Any colour looks awesome on these bikes though..

Ask away, not an expert but at least I know something :D

/Frame is on its way to Finland and yesterday I bought the donor bike that I'll strip the parts off (a modified Kona Supreme Operator). Its a shame to sell the Kona frame forward 'cause I quite liked how it rides.
Another option for the fork is that I keep the Boxxer WC that comes on the Kona, think I'll go for a For Van 36 though.

I'm all for the green. As I use the bike as my city bike too, a bright colour is helful in order to be noticed by the car drivers, which anyway will try to do their best to kill you (n)

Yeah thats true, only thought of taking it 'cause of the looks, I mean, can it look any sicker? You should do like me, stay in the forest/mountain and keep away from the roads ^^

//Oh yeah, you had a question concerning the drivetrain?

Yes buddy, I want to put a nice Sram drivetrain in her, but not sure if is compatible with my bike. Is a 2011 Diamondback Sorento, I've not even assembled :P

I do biking in hills close to my city, but I do like to use the bike as a city transportation too, specially in old downtown, where traffic jams are terrible!

It is compatible, make sure you opt for the right front derailleur holder size though, chain length and rear derailleur length though.

Heres some great advice on how to fit the drive train

Rear derailleur

Front derailleur

Cable

That should get you started :)
Oh and all X5-XX are compatible with eachother, I'd recommend you buying an X7 set though, doesn't differ too much from the XO I've got in feel or shifting IMO.

Cassette isn't that important, I just bought a Sram 1030 to match my XO:s, the cheapest model that is. You only save a little weight by opting for more expensive cassettes, definitely not worth the extra money.

I'm not a huge bike or motorcyle fan but I recently came across Derringer and I'm totally in love with their bikes. They appear to be a crossbreed between a bike and a motor cycle. You can either pedal or use the petrol engine. What a stunner and lust worthy object!

I never got the idea behind the "motor-bike". Too heavy to use as a bicycle and carrying unecessary parts to be a motorcycle.

This is my 2011 Diamondback Sorrento, I haven't assembled yet, but I want to tune the damm thing, just keeping the frame and fork:

And I willing for one of these X9 kits:
http://www.pricepoint.com/thumb/3-135--stylename-0-1-17-0000000000.htm

Not sure if the disk brakes are possible to fit in my bike, or if I need the kit that comes with the wheelset.......

Regards!

Frame doesn't seem to have caliper mounts, you'd also need new hubs that are disc compatible, so I'm afraid you can't put disc brakes on that frame. You could mount a disc brake in the front, but that would require changing the fork (to one that has mounts) and hub.
I suggest you ride it until something breaks, replace it by something better and in that way upgrade it. Anyway, have fun riding it and hope you enjoy it! :)

Frame will be here tomorrow, can't stand the wait.. :S

I'd recommend you to, 10 speed is just so much smoother than 7. I think X7 is enough, don't know how the triggers compare 'cause I haven't tested X9:s but I barely notice a difference between X0 and X7 so you should be fine with X7:s too.
Rear derailleurs aren't a place you want to put money in either, they are way too vulnerable, barely notice any difference between X0 and X9 here so I guess you'll be fine wit X7 here too.
I haven't used a front derailleur in ages so can't give you a comment on them, I'd opt for a X7 here too though, safe choice.

There is just 60 dollaras difference between the X7 and X9 in the site I link before. Do you think the X9 isn't justificable?

Thank you so much for the help buddy!

I don't know, ofc the X9 will be a bit lighter but I don't know if there's much else between them, maybe some more dials. If you have a local bike shop I suggest you go test some bike with the parts, or just fiddle around it with your hands, if you feel like the X9 is worth the premium, go for it! :) And no problem, will be fun to see how your bike will look like and weigh.

LOL, I thought this thread was about that criminal called Lance Armstrong...,.
