New tail lights look more Maybachesque :) ... I like mine better for now.

I have to agree with you George. Keep it the way it is, it ain't that much of a difference. This probably the first time I'd take a pre-facelifted Mercedes over a facelift. I guess the W221 is just that good. Did you take if for a spin?

*Sigh* If only you could get the LED tails with the painted stripes.

My thoughts exactly, The FL S class resembles the Maybach a lot.

Facelifted car is the one, pre-facelift is still gorgeous though. Still though IMO, the best time to buy a Mercedes is at the facelift. New features, bugs are taken out, and sometimes new engines, too bad they didn't do that this time with the S-Class. Not that the S550 needs it. I'm really curious to see how the hybrid will test in the mags and out in the real world mileage wise. The battle between the S400 and the LS600hL is pending I'm sure.

Unlike with the W211 E-Class you can't go wrong with getting either version of the S-Class as I wouldn't touch a pre-fl W211 E-Class.

If you currently own a S-class then is no hurry to get a facelift S.

I liked the old car's rear-end better, specially the lights! However, the front-end of new one is great! :usa7uh:

Well the S definitely needs the AMG sportpackage!! Even the pre-facelift looks fresh and dynamic with it. But the facelifted W221 is the way to go…looks just modern, elegant - amazing!

The facelifted S-Class has grown on me. Originally I disliked those squarish mirrors because I felt they detracted from the rather curvacious design. But the more I see this car on the road the better it looks.

Strangely, I find the facelifted S-Class looks absolutely horrible in black, whereas in white I cannot take my eyes of it. :t-hands:

I actually find myself getting more partial to the regular FL S-Class as opposed to the AMG Pack FL S-Class. I love the standard bumper; elegant and substantial.

My love for the FL S-class has grown once more!

It's beautiful, much more sleek and elegant that the pre FL!

By the way GBOY, did you test drive the FL?

Not that there would be much difference:D

I too like the Front end of the Facelift much better but I'm still not sold on the rear yet. I have to see it in the real world to better judge it. I will be test driving a few this weekend so I can spend more time 'abusing' them. :t-drive:

Yeah, the old tail lights have a more 'upmarket feel / look', however I saw an after facelift model at a showroom in Oostende, Belgium with the AMG body kit last week. Like Christian said not bad looking. It's the rear:t-hands:

Ps: be a Good Boy, GBoy during your test drive:usa7uh:.

^ You got it! Just Mercedes dot com :usa7uh:

I thought so. Didn't know they had the 2010 out there already. I need to go there ASAP. Of course the Bethesda one is a little closer to me.

Both look good, but the facelift would look much better if the pre-facelift didn't have the AMG pack.

Lol...How is it that the S-class "MUST" have the AMG package to look good? The 7 series on the other and is suppose to be good with or without the M package?

Considering that these car represent sophisticated luxury, they really don't have to be sporty. Sure the AMG package gives the S-class a more aggressive look, but a regular S600 looks fantastic in the right color, with the right wheels.

Mercedes use to put very bland looking bumpers to their cars, as the new E-Class or the S-Class (both FL and pre-FL) so the AMG pack just fix this.

The new F01 7er looks very good without the M Pack because its bumpers are more agressive than the S-Class ones. However, the front bumper of the 7er is not my cup of tea, and specially on light colours doesn´t look specially fine, and the M Pack front bumper looks much better.

On the contrary, the rear bumper of the M Pack F01 is a mess, the chrome looks so bad on it.
