Vector Return of the Vector Supercar?

Vector Motors Corporation was an American automobile manufacturer originally based in Wilmington, California. Its history can be traced to Vehicle Design Force, which was founded in 1978 by Gerald Wiegert. Vehicle production by Vector Aeromotive began in 1989 and ceased in 1993.

Who doesn't remember Vector Supercars and the original aerospace-inspired Vector domestic supercar? What about the W2, the W8, WX-3 and the swan song of the M12? Besides the Corvette, the Vector at most times during the '80s and early '90s was the only exotic car on the world market that was born and bred in the good old U.S. of A. Hardly any were ever sold and they remain rare pieces of our domestic auto history, but rumor that original Vector founder Gerald Wiegert is working on a new supercar have been hanging around the past few years. Whether or not that's true, we found these concept renderings of a Vector V8 Biturbo concept on a Romanian auto site and just had to share. They show off the angularity of the original Vectors in a thoroughly modern form, complete with scissor doors that feature the Vector's trademark below-the-beltline ancillary side windows. Who knows how much power this twin-turbo V8 makes or any other details about the rendered concept, but the fact these frames were even produced should tell Wiegert that there's definitely pent up interest for a Vector revival. If any one knows the artist who produced these renderings, drop us a line in the comments as we'd love to give credit where credit's due.

So this Lambo knocks up a Ford GT right? You wouldn't believe it.

The world doesn't need or care about another supercar, let alone a resurrected nameplate that nobody remembers... well, except me of course. I remember thinking those cars were the coolest thing since Nintendo.

I remember this car, had a poster of it on my wall for years. A friend and I met Gerald Wiegert at the Chicago auto show years and years ago. He told us how different his car was compared to various European cars that were nearby.

I've got to agree. The world of the supercar is already far too crowded and the last thing we need is yet
another resurrected 80's heap (to be frank)

In fact, I recall the Vector being one of the most terrible supercars ever built. It had an overly complicated
interior with a terrible design - and not to mention, it's performance was far less than impressive.

This is a Vector W8 Redesign. I called it Tribun as tribute to the original W8. My point of view was a 2007 W8, so it looks like an actual design. The engine could be the Audi Q7 V8 Tdi or the next coming V12 Tdi. I think it is a very interesting idea and I am interested in knowing how fast it could be.
