From what I have noticed: Funny how in statements by Porsche is said that the electromotor is decoupled after 250KM/H and thus the engine does the work alone while in this video you can clearly see that it isnt... Am I wrong?? When boost is activated god does it fly or what, it really is fast!!! But on the main straight it was the engine alone and it couldnt reach 300 whereas in other parts of the circuit it went well past it... I may be negative here but I think without boost it will be much much slower and I would like to know the difference from 0-300km/h with and without.
Lapping the Ring in 7 minutes on a damp road, very very good result. Marc Loeb said in Sport Auto that when everyting would fall into pieces (open and dry track without driver errors) a 6:50 would be very possible! I wouldnt be surprised that when the Lafer or the P1 announce a laptime Porsche would go back to beat it :D
This Porsche is growing on me, I like the car more and more :)

It's only the front electric motor that gets decoupled after 235kph because it drives the front wheels at a fix ratio (i.e. without a front gearbox).

In the 7:00 lap video it went just a bit over 290kph on the main straight is probably because the battery almost ran out of charge.

In the 6:57 lap video you can see that it did not even reach 290kph on the main straight.. and Marc Lieb even changed the driving mode before getting to the main straight, indicating even lower energy in the battery...

Curious, can one lift up the "hood" in the rear and observe the powertrain, or is it bolted down and only meant for qualified mechanics to have a look-see? Since we haven't seen any pics, I imagine it's the latter, no?

I would bet that the car is less voyeuristic Huayra which is a feast for the eyes with the lid lifted. The cooling needs of the 918 are pretty high, and the power unit is probably well sealed. Either way, we need more photos of the blue one ASAP.

I quote from a Rennteam member called "Whoospy" who ordered a 918.

"Just came back from the grand opening of my local Porsche dealer's new place."

"Had a VERY interesting conversation with Bernhard Maier, and Alexander Pollich, President and CEO of Porsche Cars Canada and a few other big wigs. They are still testing the 918 at Nardo last week, Bernhard had a drive there."

"Summary: 887 doesn't always equal to 887. 6:57 also doesn't equal to 6:57. There are a few cards still up the sleeves. About the best I can describe as there is no official word out yet."

Just as I said earlier, it wouldnt surprise me if the P1 or the Lafer announce a laptime Porsche would go back to beat it...

I love Porsche, it is my all-time favourite sports car manufacturer, but that they will be able to beat the rumoured 6:47 the P1 has allegedly set is going to be a tall order. I would love for Porsche to beat that time b ut something tells me it is not going to happen, I will wait to be proven wrong.

We will also find out if the McLaren did in fact do that time.

Coincidetally, McLaren sits at number two on my favourite sports cars. I hate Ferrari though!

Just heard that the LaFerrari crashed at Nardo? Is that old news?

918 was at Nardo last week! Also, the 918 is being tested for AmS at the moment. I can't wait to see what numbers they get. Some interesting tests will come out in the next months! Can't wait!
