Huayra Pagani Huayra - First Press Drives (EVO, Autocar, etc...)

The Pagani Huayra, named after the Quechua god of wind, Huayra-tata, is the successor to the Pagani Zonda.
Breaking news from Italy
Maybe coming soon full review by Auto @ Balocco (planned next October)

Beautiful test drive; funny how the guy gets really nervous by the end of the review.

Come tell me it sounds bad. Is not a Zonda, LFA or Carrera GT, but sounds great in it's own way, and doesn't need pussy speakers to play recorded engine sounds, like BMW or Audi

Regards!

Agreed dude. It's like comparing the Gallardo to the 458 Italia. Two very different sounds - one high pitched like a race car and the other mechanical and brutish. Both great sounds. Just comes down to what you like.

GT Spirit test drive:

We haven’t driven anything like it before, the balance is perfect and the way it deals with the power is incredible. Sometimes it could be considered too good at what it does

This is for Sunny, a nice white background light for the instruments. No pink or orange to complain about :)

Poor C&D idiots, arguing the Huayra has to match the Aventador 0-60 time.
It's obvious they don't understand what a Pagani is all about.

It's a decent review, but yeah, really? Honestly, that is such basketcase logic. As you can see, American magazines (especially Car and Driver) are always about 0-60 numbers. Relatively insignifcant number in the grand scheme of things.

Whilst we are on the subject though, I personally wouldn't expect the Huarya to beat the Avendator off the line. Let's face it. Despite being much lighter and having significantly more torque doesn't make up for the fact the Pagani is RWD. The Avendator has four-wheel power and a launch control system. Honestly, I am not even sure of the Huarya has a launch control system.

Sounds like it'll be a tricky car to launch, though evidently the Zonda really wasn't any different. I'd imagine that it'll be faster than the Avendator to 100mph.

I know Bruce, I read USA magazine articles on their website and I know their idiosyncracy. Is curious, it seems just the auto journalist are so incompetent, for years my father was subscribed to Popular Mechanichs and that was a very fine magazine. And up today, he's subscribed to a magazine Model Railroader (about that theme) and it's an amazing magazine with excellent write articles on very fine english. C&D, Motortrend, etc, seems to be writed by guys who never took an english class.

On: I'm pretty sure the Aventador kicks the Huayra's 0-60 time, but we have already see the track time on Italy's Top Gear, where is almost 2 second faster than the Lambo, on a quite short track. But foremost, the Huayra is all about craftsmanship, art and exclusivity, where ever pice of the car is treated and conceived as small pieces of art.

Best regards!

Totally dude. I agree. Pagani's cars are primarily about craftsmanship and artistic quality. That's what I love about Pagani. Closest thing I can think of to Pagani is Spyker (which I adore), but then they don't quite have the performance.

What I really admire about the Huarya (and the Zonda of course) was they were every bit as art as they were performance sports car. I'm of the opinion that Horacio Pagani doesn't sacrifice quality for performance, or vice versa. And the Zonda F's performance... well that was certainly great.

But as you said, the Huayra's track performance... I've haven't any doubts the new monster will be a boss on the track. An incredible piece of machinery finely tuned. For those who say the Huarya is old fashioned. Shame on you. You'll find out soon enough that it doesn't matter. More can be less; Zonda was a case in point example.

We're on the same train, Bruce. I think the quality meets perfomance is the result of Horacio's thinking, based on Da Vinci's art meets science. For someone like me Pagani and his small team is like the ultimate inspiration, the little, humble guys working art in a small house and going hand on hand against monsters like Ferrari, Porsche or McLaren

Best regards.

Yes, there's a certain romantic charm to the Pagani story and there's no doubting the exquisiteness of their creations as rolling art-forms. Undiminished appreciation for Pagani notwithstanding, for that kind of money my order would be in with McLaren, Porsche or Ferrari right now. And, for that matter, I'd much rather a Zonda F Roadster too...

There's something about this Huayra and how I flip flop in and out of love with it.

Is amazing how everyone got the name wrong..... Huayra stands for wind, not for wind's god.

In aymara:
Huayra: wind
Tata: god
Huayra Tata: wind's god

Even Pagani doesn't seems to know that correctly.

Regards!

Pagani Huayra Roadster gets rendered

Aldo Maria Sica from IED Turin has envisioned the upcoming Pagani Huayra Roadster.

We already know that such a version will come out in 2013 or 2014, but we haven't seen any images of the car yet. Through these renderings we can imagine how the open-air version of the Huayra could look like. The images depict a roof made from three components with two rigid uprights joined by a flexible element.

It has been confirmed it will feature an AMG-sourced V12 6.0-liter bi-turbo engine producing 690 hp (515 kW) and 737 lb-ft (1000 Nm) of torque. Most likely, an official unveiling will occur at a major motor show next year.
