Ouch I think we have a new king... or the RS6 has something to say about that?
The M5 will surely be slower than the E63 4Matic around most tracks and in straight line acceleration :)
What I do love is STRONG competition!

Who knows, maybe BMW has been secretly working on an AWD version of 5-series...

3.3 to 60mph - that blows my mind. And i think E63 is really going to benefit from the more sporty look of the facelift.

BMW been saying for a year now that we can expect a AWD M5 for the next generation. So its unlikely we'll see one soon.

I don't think so the M5 get AWD for the next gen. But will see.

Soon we will have sports saloons that will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2,5 seconds.

That's unlikely. Air resistance is the main obstacle. Imho 3 seconds will be a bar for quite some time

Air resistance is not an issue under 120kmh. The main issues here are the tyres (traction) and the strains on the drivetrain.

Plus clutch and weight.
Though, I don't think 0-100 km/h times are a very important factor when buying a sports saloon.

edit: I can see it now :)

That looks, erm, fantastic?!? :cautious:

I'm completely bemused at how some Mercedes Benz fans are so anti at the moment. First the RS6 and now the E63 AMG; BMW M5, BMW M5 - wherefore art thou? Oh there you are, next to that 520d Sport.

I completely understand and agree that the MB rank and file have been overly critical of this facelift.

Regarding the part of your post that I have highlighted, I might need a drink or two to understand where you are coming from.

Mercedes Benz fans? There are none left on this forum besides HOH :D

The M5 is where it should be; understated. Best-in-class cars don't need a look-at-me design ;)

That E63 looks spectacular btw! Any more media out already? Artist, you know best how to find more images :D

lol @ 'Best in class'

Yeah, yeah...it's stupid to call the M5 best in class. What was I thinking!!!!

Sorry man, the E63 is the best sports sedan of course.

I'm just being an idiot Klier. But I never said the E63 was best in calls either. We all know it's different strokes for difference folks and it all depends on the driving experience you're after.
