Absolutely Epic. Lambolicious at its best! I am truly impressed.

Lord Have Mercy! :eusa_doh:

That's like comparing and S-class to an Acura RL. Aventador shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as an MP4 when talking about competitors.

HOH, would you agree that there are levels of performance when discussing cars, especially performance cars. You have sportscars, supercars and then hypercars. In my opinion the MP4 and Aventador sit firmly in the supercar category where as the Veyron and Huayra sit at the upper levels of the hypercar category.

Your above description of similarity isn't even close.

Man, ignore price and concentrate on the performance. :eusa_doh:

I have to disagree footie, purely by virtue of the existence of a 10 cylinder Lamborghini supercar that sits below the Murcielago-now-Aventador. What is it? Gallardo.

And old though it is, it is Gallardo that solely and squarely competes with the 458 Italia and MP4-12C in the junior supercar class. The case for Aventador is summarily dismissed by virtue of the the Gallardo's existence.

Frak, we're really going on about this Aventador - "where does it sit?" thing...

This is a 700 hp, 6.5 litre V12 range-topping supercar with four-wheel drive that is preceded by a lineage extending back to the Countach and possibly even the Miura. This positions the Aventador at a much higher, more exotic level than the junior supercars as mentioned.

And just for the record the term "hyper-anything" is not used in any form of recognised (e.g. automotive publication) classification. Look at the back of any car mag - Veyron will be listed under the category of supercar; the Focus RS under hot hatches and not "hyper-hatches" and the E63 under sports saloon and not "hyper-saloons". The references made in automotive text to hypercars is purely for descriptive purposes rather than currently established classification.

Performance alone is not a pure enough criterion for classification purposes either. If it were then you may as well call a Caterham R500 Superlight a supercar. And it certainly isn't.

From the intital exterior pics the car looks very reventonish (and a bit of facelift gallardo) but thats not to say its doesnt look good because it still looks fantastic. Cant wait to see the interior though, as people who have seen the car in private showings seemed to be very impressed with the interior...

I like it ...for the most part. There are some over the top details, but I guess that is Lamborghini for you. I am glad that they didn't over do the "oh I am a stealth plane" theme like Reventon. Interior is truly awesome, none of the gaudy art decor crap like in Huayra.

I agree with you. It is within the limits of intolerable.

Wow!

Damn look at those edges particularly where the door is!

Yeah! you could really hurt yourself hand-washing that thing!

I gotta say though, I do miss the big-wing of the Diablo. :(

My best friend is back, and god this is my kind of style!

Edit: Design ....

(#4)Cizeta V16T, which was the original design for the Diablo, and the (#5)Bugatti EB110. Both were designed by Marcello Gandini.

Notice how the engine sits off-centre in the engine bay, being slightly offset to the left. I wonder why... :t-hands:

Martinbo,

Good catch. Of course, this is assuming the picture was taken right in the center. If it was, then it is off to the left. I wonder why too.

Could it be to balance the car in case there is more weight on one side of it?

Hussein, thanks man!

Wow!

I love the reventon feel, that I was putting down earlier, but I love how they threw in some countach in there from the past.

I love the door and the side profile.

Are these the doors that open up or to the side? The reason why I wonder if it is the latter is because the handle on the door is one that you'd find on a side-swinging one like the Gallardo.

That is what I was wondering. I remember hearing some earlier reports of them getting rid of those doors to bring down the weight. We should know something soon.

Hmm. It seems like a trade off between tradition of the car having the doors that swipe up and lowering the weight. You are right, we'll find out soon enough.

Edit:

Take a look at this picture

Looks like they do swing up, but I am not sure.
