G-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG (W463)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.
Brabus to show the iBusiness based on the G 65 AMG in Geneva. :)

I'm pretty certain that I saw this exact car in St Petersburg last month, it was parked on the road outside a resturant I was at, the driver was a fairly young (mid 20's) female. I'd never seen a Brabus G before, it's a beast for sure, it certainly stands out from the legions of RR and RRS on Russian roads.

Mercedes G65 AMG coming to America in 2016

Could cost more than $250,000

The Mercedes G65 AMG could be coming to America as Automotive News is reporting several sources have confirmed it will be offered in the United States for the 2016 model year.

As a refresher, the G65 AMG was introduced in 2012 with a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that develops 612 PS (450 kW) and 1000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph).

Besides the almighty engine, the G65 AMG has an aggressive body kit and 20-inch alloy wheels. Other highlights include diamond-pattern designo leather seats, piano black trim and special floor mats.

Unfortunately, power and exclusively won't come cheap as the model is expected to cost more than $250,000.

They must have decided the cost of making it conform to U.S. safety regs was worth the cost. They'll simply pass that cost on to the customer. $250K? I'd say more like $275-300K.

They must have made the required changes to the front end crash structure for the U.S. market. WOW. This will be 200-250K for sure.

Fun fact: Geländewagen is German for off-road vehicle. The vehicle is also known as the "G-wagen" or simply the "G." Only M-B marketing types refer to it as "the G-class.”

Conceived in the early 1970s, jointly developed with Austrian truck maker Steyr-Daimler-Puch (now part of Magna Steyr), and launched in 1979, it started out as a spartan but incredibly strong off-roader designed for the world's armed forces. Civilian customers were an afterthought. Early models were slow, loud, and lacking creature comforts; no wonder they were kept off North American shores for decades...

Mercedes G65 AMG headed to the US, will cost $217,900
Goes on sale in November

Mercedes introduced the G65 AMG nearly three years ago but the company has just announced plans to offer the model in the United States.

Set to go on sale in November, the 2016 G65 AMG features a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 621 bhp (463 kW) and 738 lb-ft (999 Nm) of torque. It enables the SUV to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 5.3 seconds.

Additional information will be released closer to launch but Mercedes confirmed pricing will start at $217,900 (excluding a $925 destination and delivery fee). This represents a substantial $80,750 premium over the 2015 63 AMG.

Wow, lots of blind bling.
Yeah, unfortunately that is who's buying these now.

I have loved the G wagon since I was really young, I loved its Bauhaus utilitarianism and purposefulness ... I am very saddened by what it has been turned in to. It has become the victim of an image-obsessed, affluent, over-indulgent consumer culture.

All that is missing is the GLC and GLS. This time around hopefully they will do a AMG version of the GLK replacement, GLC. Stuff that 4L V8 in there.
