No official press release info yet. photos from http://www.autoblog.nl/aston-martin-am-310-opvolger-van-de-dbs

I like what I am seeing, Aston Martin is taking the 911 approach with the design of the DB9/DBS series. All these subtle changes to the design has managed to make the current car look dated.

while -without a doubt- the car has grogeous proportions, it lacks the classiness of the DB9 or even the DBS, if you can talk about the latter as a classy car.
The styling seems to be very -dare I say- vulgar. And i won't even start talking about the rear end.

It is definitely more vulgar, less classy, but at least they did vulgar/less classy right! Absolutely gorgeous in my opinion, but one can't expect to mistake it for anything else other than an overstated, aggressive exotic sports car.

IMO, it still looks more elegant, actually understated, and classy than most Ferrari models these days, and of course Lamborghini (who's intent is not to look any of those, lol).

It is a pity that Aston used the same headlights from the Rapide as well as the Virage, and they didn't give the car an unique front grill. Otherwise this is fantastic update .

At first glance i'm not really feeling the side profile. Another set of wheels would do the car massive favours aswell

Or this is the final product with some optional extras and a 'concept' tag. I have a feeling the rear spoiler is here to stay, or it is available as an option.

Thankfully its not present on the mules because its the only ugly element I have ever seen on an Aston. I don't know whether its the camera lens of whether the concept differs from the test mules but in some shots it almost appears to have a Panamera-esque bubble butt.

I suspect they have simply covered the gap with tape, I don't mind too much as long as it is functional.

Carmagazine has a pic of the new DBS rear. It´s 100% the same than this concept and wears the name VANQUISH

Aston Martin's new 2012 DBS supercar revives Vanquish name

The UK's royal jubilee bank holiday has thrown up a surprise scoop: Aston Martin will revive the Vanquish name for its new V12 supercar to replace the DBS.

This carelessly left-open transporter in the Midlands spilled a big secret: the Aston Martin Vanquish is back.

Aston Martin Vanquish Mk2: back for 2012

The Vanquish was arguably the first major-league hit of the modern Aston era and sold from 2001-2007. Conceived under the leadership of Ulrich Bez, appointed CEO in 2000 and still at the helm today, it pioneered the design style and technical hardware which have gone on to underpin the entire current Aston range.

Now it's back for 2012. CAR has already scooped the new Vanquish Mk2 twice and the AM310 design concept was shown at last weekend's Villa d'Este concours d'elegance. We now know that car was a barely disguised look at the new DBS successor.

The new Aston Vanquish (2012) has a nice rump!

It does, doesn't it? This is our first look at a totally undisguised Vanquish rear end and we can see that the second-gen V12 GT has a very different back from the current crop of Astons.

There's an elegant integrated rear spoiler, looping neatly into the rear deck with the smoothness of the wings on the Lotus Evora/Porsche Boxster. A pair of blunderbuss exhausts straddle a large diffuser panel, designed for maximum aero efficiency and air-cleaving.

And - of course - there's the Vanquish badge, sitting to the right of the bewinged Aston badge. It certainly caught us by surprise - and you can see more of the Vanquish in our snatched cameraphone spy video below.

Shades of One-77 too...

Oh yes. The boomerang-shaped rear lamps are very distinctive and are clearly inspired by the One-77 hypercar, the £1.2m rarity of which only 77 were produced.

It's clear that Aston's Veyron has a wider purpose and will inspire future generations of Aston Martin hypercar.

Expect to see the new Aston Martin Vanquish Mk2 formally unveiled in summer 2012.

I like the taillights, but why didn't they stick with a duck-tail spoiler? The spoiler reminds me of wannabe-boy-racer from the 1990's.

It might produce more down force with the same or less drag than the duck tail because this allows air to pass through the rear end. I don't mind the look as much as long as it is functional.

How lovely, the ugly Mitsubishi Eclipse-esque spoiler is actually production ready. Bummer. The revival of the Vanquish name plate is hopefully warranted by stark technical differences from the DB9.

"Suit of Carbon Fibre?" Carbon Fibre all around the the new Vanquish then.
The Vanquish better have carbon fibre body panels. I think bringing back the name Vanquish is a bit unfortunate when it is so hopelessly out gunned by the F12.

The Vanquish better have carbon fibre body panels.

More like, it better weigh less than 1,550kg and be more than just another Aston with an anabolic body kit, or else even the up and coming face lifted Panamera Turbo S will shame it. It won't be anywhere near the F12 in performance.
