    Hi guys (and girls)

Does anyone know when the new DI turbo engines will be available on the W204?

I wouldn't want to purchase a C200K and then have the new engines arrive shortly thereafter..

I would assume Mercedes might introduce a few new engines around the time of the e90's facelift to remain competitive. So next year maybe?
  3. habashi2 Member

i guess they will introduce the new engines with or just before the 2009 E-Class

In the U.S. it will definitely be the 2009 model year because Mercedes is looking kinda bad with "only" 268hp in the C350, E350 etc, when others are pushing 300hp in both classes. I wonder if the E will get the new engines in their final year or will they move up the next E's introduction here in the U.S. so the boosted C's don't upstate the E for too many months. The above info shows 306hp, I was hoping for like 320hp since the V8 now offer 380+ hp.

    Hi all

I've read a possible launch for the E90 facelift for March 2008 - does anyone have any info on the possibility of the new DI Turbo engines for the W204 possibly launching at that time? If they won't be ready with them, I'll choose to go for an E90 323d or 335i - but I would prefer a W204!

Any insiders willing to share info?!?:)

    Hi guys

Mercedes is so far behind on this matter now, it is getting ridiculous! Are the new DI Turbo engines coming to this brand or not?!
  9. Monster Global Moderator

Yes these engines are coming, or in fact they were launched already, C200 CGI, 135kW 270Nm, C250 CGI, 150kW, 310Nm, both have the same 1.8 4 cylinder turbo engine.

As was just said, the engines are out, so they should be available to order now, or very soon.

Any reason why you want petrol and not diesel? The new I4 diesel will blow any petrol out of the water.

Hi, to clarify, I am enquiring about the V6 and (for the E-Class and up) V8 DI Turbos. The C350 and E350 need these engines, especially up here in Johannesburg where the air is thin. I am now looking at a new 535i instead of the E350 as the E350 just doesn't have the torque and efficiency I expect of such a well engineered car..

    BMW 3.0 I6 = 272 hp
    MB 3.5 V6 - 292 hp
    BMW 3.0 TT I6 = 306 hp

MB doesn't really NEED to do anything, since the engine is good enough as it is, but a turbo would be good for efficiency and low end torque.

Just......no. The diesel age is about to be over, with extremely efficient gasoline I4 turbo engines coming from pretty much every brand now or very soon. There's no need to drive diesel unless you drive more than like 40,000 km a year.

MB certainly does need to launch upgraded engines in the 350 class. Compare the accelaration figures and in-gear performance in the real world between 535i and E350.. We live at altitude here which makes matters far worse - naturally aspirated engines lose 17% to 19% power up in Johannesburg. The fact that I as a buyer expect more bang for my buck from a preffered E350 over a 535i, but will still opt for the 535i due to the engine is a case in point. I am one of the young buyers MB is targeting at 35 years of age. I don't need massive power but the E350 is flat..

    Mercedes should launch a 3.0 V6 Kompressor producing 315 bhp and a 3.5 V6 Kompressor producing 385 bhp.

P.S: I am aware that "Kompressor" means Supercharger.

    Model Power Torque 0-100
    C250CDI 150kw 500nm 7,0s
    C250CGI 150kw 310nm 7,4s
    Fuel Economy(l/100km) Highway Combined City
    C250CDI 4,5 5,35 6,85
    C250CGI 5,85 7,55 10,4
    Difference for petrol 30%+ 41%+ 52%+

This new "Extremely efficient" petrol engine is still less efficient than the previous diesel, and can not even compete with the current offering. The otto cycle is simply an inferior design to the diesel.

I don't really care about the diesels Mercedes has always been competitive there, and I don't know what Mercedes has going on in other parts of the world with their CGI 3.5L V6, but what I do know is that here in the U.S. Mercedes is way behind in the V6 class. 268hp simply doesn't cut it anymore. Acura, Infiniti, BMW, Lincoln, Audi, Cadillac, and Lexus all have 300+hp V6 engines.

Don't care if the people use it or not, this is Mercedes-Benz and they shouldn't be down nearly 40hp compared to their competitors.

292hp is nice for the DI V6 in Europe, but here even that is behind the class.

Mercedes needs a new DI, turbo V6 with at least 325hp in every vehicle with the "350" badge in the U.S. The SLK350 is fine. High rev V6 is good for that model. C350, E350, ML350 need help, now!

Mercedes-Benz is working on the new MoVe engines, which are expected this summer. The engines will likely debut in the S-class coupe according to the blurb below?

  19. Wolfgang Contributing Member

The MoVe engines may also debut on the new CLS and facelifted R-Class?

PS. And lets not forget, the Mercedes-Benz F800 Style shows a 300+ hp V6 in Geneva, which might already be based on the MoVe architecture:

You are 100% correct! MB need this in South Africa too.
