Ugly this, ugly that. Come on guys, let's not have this pointless discussion. The car is heavily disguised. Besides from the roof perhaps, there is nothing else on the car that speaks tha truth.

This is true. The ONLY thing visible is the greenhouse and roofline. All the other panels are completely fake. Including the white/gray ones.

All I know is, I am not ready for the next S. THe current one is so awesome!

You'll be ready, trust me :D

It will set all kinds of new standards, moving the industry forward. I'm ready already, to me the current model is aging a bit.

Lol this thread is funny..
I suspect alot of you folks eating up your words in 2 years..;)

The W222 will surely introduce loads of new tech features as the W221 didn't have any world's firsts (at least not anything really significant) because the focus was in improving reliability and quality after the infamous Schrempp era. :usa7uh:

Poor W220. It was the poster car for that era of M-B, as it ran through the worst years. Only in its final couple years was when
M-B's reliability started getting back on track. Too bad because it was a pioneering design for M-B.

Made them really get on the ball for the 221 though.

Yeah, the hard work and the intense testing really paid off. W221's reliability is excellent and everything in the car is top quality. :usa7uh:

That is very light disguise for a mule.
The profile of the current S-class greehouse is perfect. In the LWB. IN the SWB it is not good. Perhaps this is the reason for the extended flat roof line.
The headlamps on the current S are shaped poorly.

Really wish MB would move away from the quirky fender buldges, but doesn't look to be the case.

I agree about the headlights. A weak point to me on the 221 (not talking about the LED's or lighting quality), just not very interesting, and kind of generically shaped. As well, the way it mates with the fender just doesn't work to my eyes for some reason. Same for the tails, the way they mate with the rear fenders isn't perfect.

The roof line is indeed perfect on the LWB S-Class, I don't see how they can top it. Flattening the roof a'la W212 is not the right way, that's for sure.

Yep, hard to believe the W222 will make the W221 obsolete soon :D.

And the hood. It looks like the one on the E. It pops up when you hit a pedestrian.

If Mercedes Benz get the upright grill design correct, and the rest of the car, the new S Class could look more like a Rolls Royce Ghost competitor and leave the 7 Series and A8 behind.

BMW must be seriously reconsidering the CS concept production model to compete in terms of image with the new S Class...

The F700 front should be the new face of Mercedes. Its a breath of fresh air. It is not the most beautiful face in the history of S class but it is also not resembling anything that came out of Mercedes design studio in the last 3 decades. Enough evoloution.

Anything closely resembling to the current E is totally unaccepatable for the S, especially the ugly rear fender line and plain and uninspiring rear lights IMO. If that happens on the 2013 S class than I am becoming a Lexus fan in 2010.:D

If speculations could come to an end, it would be better. The exterior design of the W 222 is not totally finalized;that's why the mule is so Frankenstein-like. The real test cars for the 2013 S-Class will appear in the coming period(weeks or months). And then you will see the S has its own powerful look.

P.S.:Lexus?AHHHH, NOT!

I think we are all wondering the very same thing: Boxy or organic?/E-Class or CLS?.

Solid in terms off looks design like a w140 or u mean it will be built even more solidly then the current S.
