I think this is about the right time to see heavy camouflaged prototypes .. usually right after the facelift ..

I do think that the F700 holds some future design strategies from MB :eusa_thin

Especially some interior parts could be in the next S-Class I think…the F700 was/is a great concept with a lot of good ideas…

It will surely feature the double shoulder line that will be previewed on the next CLS, I´m convinced about that, and the front lights are being said to be a mix between the current car´s shape and the new CLS ones, being in any case smaller and slimmer than the W221 ones.

    All i care about is Pre-Scan lol.:D

Yes. We've already seen W221 based pre-scan mules and last month MB showed of the new pre-scan based on the W221. Be sure to see W222 test mules on the roads very soon. Given the alien technology the car will feature, testing will be loooooooooooooooooooooooong. This thread is bound to be endless.

That looks like a facelift. :D

That's not how it will look at all ^^

They took the greenhouse directly from the W221, and added some retarded lines all over the doors, etc.

BTW, isn't the new model coming out in 2014? Lol. One thing to remember, the S's, as opposed to the E's, have Face-Lifts early in their Production cycle, leaving the larger chunk (4 years) of their run F.L'ed.

I think it will be a big departure from the W221, as the W221 is an evolution of the W220, and apparently M-B likes to "revolutionize" their designs after every 2 generations.

Also, I hope they go back to curvy and rounder styling, they did that so well and elegantly. At the same time, I hope Wagener and co. don't screw this up, as the W221, although a teeny bit funky in a few areas, is a beautiful car.

The designer who penned current VW Passat sedan, VW Concept C, VW Eos, VW Iroc Concept, VW Scirocco, and upcoming KIA Sportage & KIA Magentis ... is now @ MB working on the new W222 S-class.

Are you sure he is working on the new S-class? Couldn't they have brought him in for something after that?

Sure he will be working on future projects as well, I guess.
But he has been MB designer from the beginning of 2009. Just when S-class design process started. A coincidence? Not at all. (y)

Hmm, interesting. Although I don't like any of those mentioned cars/designs, it looks like he designs rounder, softer, simpler looking, yet cutesy and bubbly cars. Hopefully the new S doesn't start looking like anything he's done before, but equally hopefully he can use his influence to simplify what M-B has been doing lately with their designs. I hope whoever penned the W212 (Wagener himself?) doesn't have much influence, or at least goes a different route for this.... Which I'm know will most certainly be the case.

As announced by Daimler Passenger car design strategy chief the upcoming S-class would follow the new trends in automotive design: namely organic & rounder shapes / lines.

As you may noticed this year MB has hired A LOT of new talented & established designers - beside this guy also the Karim Habib from BMW (F01 7er, CS Concept), and also some otheres from other automotive design studios.

That shows MB is going to be trendier again - not follow but also lead the automotive design (again).

    :t-cheers:

I think BMW will be the number in automotive design (again) :D:D:D

    Robert Lešnik?

    (y)

He designed KIA Soul as well (or it was the design team leader, I'm not sure). He is a a true follower of Peter Schreyer (ex Audi & VW design chief- now design chief @ KIA), nad obviously one of his favorite young designers - since Lesnik designed so many VW & KIA cars.

:jpshakehe Now I am really scared about this next S-class. God help us!

The Soul is super sexy, the CS stunning.

The 7er is, I find, a tad bland and lacking in terms of presence. Despite oversized kidneys.

Overall I like his work very much!

You are a bit wrong, mate. But, that's only a matter of taste...
