M3/M4 M3 Competition Package (ZCP) for MY 2011 (EDIT: Now official)

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Well 5kg isn't a big difference man. I still standby that the GTS is the new CSL.

No, you're right on both parts. 5 kg isn't much, and it might even be wrong, because I find quotes for the E46 M3 weight from 1542 to 1570 kg.
And yes, GTS is 100% the new CSL. And like I said even more so (I'll take the huge wing for example now)

I found the extra list for the E46 M3 Competition Package, which might give us a look at the upcoming E92 version:

  • 19-inch BBS spin-cast (flow formed) alloy wheels (marketed as "forged"); 19"x8"front, 19"x9.5"rear: weigh 26 lb (12 kg).
  • Specially tuned spring rates for the Competition Package; this was carried over to all M3 production from 12/04 on.
  • CSL steering rack: More direct steering ratio of 14.5:1 (vs. standard M3's 15.4:1)
  • CSL's M-Track Mode DSC with a button mounted on the steering wheel (deletion of cruise control and steering wheel mounted radio/phone controls)
  • CSL's Compound cross-drilled rotors; larger front rotor of 13.6 inches (from 12.6 inches) with black painted calipers
  • Alcantara steering wheel, gear lever and hand brake
  • Interlagos Blue exterior paint available as an exclusive color option.
  • Unique cube aluminum interior trim

M3 Competition Package
While it is known as the M3 Competition Package in the US and mainland Europe, it is also known as the M3 CS (Club Sport) in the UK.

Although the M3 CSL was never exported to the United States, for 2005 BMW introduced an M3 Competition Package in both Europe and the US (a.k.a. CS/Club Sport in the UK): a $4,000 option which offered a number of upgrades taken from M3 CSL.

M3 E92 DCT: 1675 kg
M3 GTS DCT: 1490 kg
Difference: -185 kg for GTS

M3 E46: 1550 kg
M3 CSL: 1385 kg
Difference: - 170 kg for CSL

But I cheated a bit, because CSL has SMG standard (only) and the M3 E46's 1550 kg is a manual I think. Can't find the weight increase for SMG. So in the end you might be right (again ;) )
Unfortunately, the GTS figure is the DIN weight, so the difference is 110kg.

Dang. I knew there was a catch. 1490 kg EU was too good. We have to add another 67 kg + 7 kg + 90% tank

Oh well :D
All I wanted to say is that the GTS is more extreme than the CSL, sheeesh

And the EU1 weight for the E46 M3 is 1,570kg making the difference to the CSL even bigger.

And was the SMG II heavier than a normal manual? I know M DCT is heavier than the normal manual by 20kg, but that's a double clutch and known to be heavier due to the technology involved.

Yes, I already said that in my previous post, but thanks for pointing it out again I guess.
The weight difference isn't bigger in the end, but the car itself is more extreme than the CSL, and probably infinitely better. The CSL wasn't stable at all at high speeds.

It will be the same answer as the E46 M3:

Now that you mention it, Klier is right. I remember that BMW have done this in the past. The E46 coupe and sedan both got revised headlights on their respective facelifts but the M3 model's headlights remained unchanged. So they are probably sticking to the same tradition.

Try looking in page 1 of this thread. It even has the lowered suspension. Or you could imagine the GTS wheels in grey.

If you wait till august production (after all the GTS has been delivered) you can get the wheels in black as on the GTS.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
