The car will trash Enzo FXX. The oil sheiks are probably rubbing their palms right now.:D :eusa_danc
I hope it is as beautiful as the legendary 959.

They should call it the Carrera GT1, IMO.

Also, the best looking Porsche was the 904 Luw.
Naah I don't like it that much, it looks a bit too Italian for me. Porsche got it right the first time with the 356, that is IMO the best looking Porsche car ever.

As far as I know this is just an artist's drawing. Nothing too serious.

I could never agree with that. The 356 began as Beetle without the roof.
550 (a) was better.

I would love them to make a 997 GT1, similar to the 996 GT1!

All these GCI look crap with the current CGT face!

To my knowledge the GT1 wasn't a real 996, but it acually started from the 956/962.

The 1996-1998 GT1 used the 993 front and mid structure. The engine was part of the same family as the 962C, which continues to this day through the 996 turbo/GT2/GT3 into the 997 turbo/GT3. I have posted before about this family of engines and how they are different from the 996/997 architecture.

IMO the new GT1 will be another money loser for Porsche and will languish on showrooms like the CGT is. You can buy brand new ones that have been sitting on dealer floors for almost 2 years now for $100k under MSRP. Dealers lost a lot of money carrying these cars in inventory. Purists like myself don't see Porsches as relevant unless they have a racing history. Give me a GT3 over a CGT anyday- most of my Porsche friends agree and say that the CGT does nothing for them, and these are the people that buy cars, not just read about them in magazines.

^^
Good points made. A new GT1 would probably be the last nail in the coffin for the CGT. The Production of the CGT has just ended and I would be unpropriate of Porsche to slap the market with another super sports car. The CGT owners would be devastated. While the value of the CGt is decreasing the price for an enzo is increasing.
Either how Porsche's focus for the next years is the Panamera platform. I'm sure we will also see a new 928 which might turn out to be a 599GTB competitor.

Yepp Ferdinard used Beetles components to build the 456. The 550 is also one of the finer Porsche cars produced. Infact the design of the CGT is partly influenced by the 550.

Interesting point regarding models within the brand....I am slowly growing into this kind of thinking as well.

Slightly OT, but analogical to the idea of value resulting from racing history, I was surprised to learn (due to my ignorance) a couple of weeks ago, that these racing models don't really have a specific value range by model as such, but rather the value of the individual car is determined by its' racing history. Much like race horses! Probably old news to most, but a  for me....

Owned by Volkswagen AG, it was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche. In the late 1940s, Ferdinand's son Ferry Porsche began building his car, which would result in the Porsche 356.
