458 [Official] Ferrari 458 Italia

The Ferrari 458 Italia (Type F142) is a mid-engine sports car produced by Ferrari. Production: 2009-2015. Predecessor: Ferrari F430. Successor: Ferrari 488.
^ lol Hassan, you just love to drag the Panny in every single comparison you make :D

Well we're talking about cars dominating their segments aren't we:D

I badly want this car, and the California's image has now been wrecked. The California will now be looked upon as a sissy man's Ferrari. Absolutely no reason in the world can make you want the California given the good sent specs and design of the California. Now I'm curious to see what Ferrari will make off the 599 successor, change it to a mid-engine beast or create a front mid-ship that will be make the Aston Martin One-77 look like an expensive rip-off.

599 still has years ahead ... and it is still fresh ..

I don't know. Maybe it's because I spot it on the roads on a daily basis but it does lack the eye-candy factor of the LP650 and even the F430. Hopefully a facelift is scheduled for mid 2010 for the car not to look dated against the 458 featuring a new design language.

The 599 GTB is a grand tourer. It's about elegance over flash (that's what mid-engined Ferraris are for.) I don't get to see the 599 often at all but when I do - there's nothing but boundless appreciation for its elegant beauty and built-for-purpose GT lines.

The mid-engined and front-engined Ferraris have seldom, if ever, shared a common design language. Which is entirely the point when it comes to Ferrari.

After looking over and over at the pics, seriously the Italians are the masters of design. This car and many other Italian ones has curves and lines beyond anything else on the road.Kudos..

I guess I'm one of the minority this time. The engine and the technology are :bowdown::bowdown: but the car itself doesn't attract me at all. :jpshakehe

I hate small unnecessary design details such as those cuts on the front lights (just like I hate them on new Nissans (370Z & Maxima)). The side creases and their steep angle reminds me of Seat Leon. The whole area around the door handle seems akwardly designed. The 3 tail pipes might be a hommage but they still look cheesy.
All in all the exterior looks like it was made by a some 13-year-old self-trained "designer" from Moldova and the Ferrari engineers then added all the functionality to it.

The interior is somewhat better but has some strange details as well. The aluminum parts such as the air vents are integrated into the cockpit in a way that they remind me of some weird fungi that grew through some organic being's skin.

Give me a 911, a Gallardo or a F430/Scuderia over this thing anyday...

Got to agree with Mikael. Really, can't quite understand the attraction. Kind of sick of the whole Enzo styling direction. Though blindly expensive and grossly underpowered compared to this, I'd rather have an Ascari KZ1.

I'd rather have my left testicle ripped out by a 3m Komodo Dragon with septic saliva than choose that half-cocked Ascari over a thoroughly complete 458 Italia.

Ah... but in reality, there's nothing half-cocked about this very complete and bar-raising Ferrari. ;)

Damn, you're talking like the Ascari is a daewoo or something. LOL :D

This Ferrari is the new benchmark. Can the LP560 keep up with 458?

No way in hell will the LP560 keep up. They will need the new iteration of the Gallardo, but that is far away as seeing the next car on the block is the Murci replacement.

That I also agree with.

Just not fond of the styling details at the moment.
I can understand that.

I love the way it looks. It has a very futuristic feel; I like the larger-than-usual glasshouse and the Mille Chili proportions (itself a stylised, concentrated Enzo). The upright windscreen promises good visibility and the whole cabin "pod" is reminiscent of Le Mans racers and Zondas. I like the new interpretation of the Ferrari-buttress feature and the ratio of wheel diameter to sheet metal.

What's also nice is the symmetry of the front and rear ends of the car in plan view. The rear three quarter view is just divine. I love those floating cylinder tail lights and I like the fact that they echo those the same single barrel design as seen on the 599.

Yes, but it is around 235 000 GBP no? That's helluva expensive for a shoddily put together, unrefined 500 Bhp car no?

I can think of much better ways to spend that amount of money and get a proper thoroughbred.

I'll agree with you there. :t-cheers:
