SPY PHOTOS: Porsche Boxster and Cayman Facelifts
    Little bit more than makeup

Here are the best pictures yet of the facelifted versions of Porsche’s Boxster and Cayman during winter testing in northern Scandinavia. The Boxster already underwent a restyling in 2004, so the new one can be expected in 2008. Both cars will get new front bumpers with LED daylight driving lights as well as re-designed and much rounder air intakes. Furthermore, new rear bumpers and completely new taillights with LEDs are included in these major restylings. Technical improvements are still unknown and so are modifications to the interiors.

Here’s are the clearest photos yet, showing a barely disguised facelifted Cayman during testing at the Nurburgring. The freshened up model will share its new face and LED tail-lights with its sister, the Boxster.

Even though it looks production-ready, it won’t be available until late 2008, giving you plenty of time to save up.

Porsche are obviously trying to increase the appeal of the Cayman, which despite its entry model status, isn't performing well on the sales charts. In this month's EVO, Cayman production is less than half that of the 911 - demand is that weak.

Cayman's biggest problem: it costs more than a Boxster and it shouldn't have to.

The Cayman S is a bargain, despite it's relative lack of power.

I'd take it every day over the over priced and over hyped 911 Carrera.

Give it more power, and preferably a fancy semi-automatic, and it will butcher the 911. :D :D :D

There are rumors going around that the car in that pictures is a Cayman RS. Just look at the non-conjoined dual pipes.

Strange, I always thought the CaymanS was a bargain. Especially when it's the same price as the 335i coupé (in my country at least).

Are you kidding me? In most countries the Cayman S is 30% more expensive.

Looking at the engine specs one might believe so but from all the reviews I have read in magazines and from people on the net, the Cayman is spectacular offers a unique mid engine experience. But at the same time I can understand it from your point of view. It is very pricey and the money of a Cayman S can buy you an M3. Just about every reviewer have been amazed by the agility, perfect balance and rigidity of the car. Sometimes there is more to it than just horse power, especially when it comes to Porsche cars.

But I do feel that the Cayman should get it's power bumped up, and it will, next year when both it and the 911 gets a face lift. It will need that in order to stop some of Porsche customers from heading over to the others German brands for a C63, M3 or RS5.

I made a mistake - the CaymanS is substantially more expensive. My apologies. I quoted someone wholesale without checking the prices. :eusa_doh:

At the weekend, the Porsche dealership told me that the facelift will come out in early 2009. Will test drive the current Cayman within the next weeks, but i'm more interested in a facelifted one. Do you guys know, when the facelift will come out?

    Spring next year.
