I don't mind if BMWs have turbo engines, though it would take a bit of getting used to. I would also rather that it be only for the smaller engines, not so much that they threatened the M engines. A 335i or whatever the turbo version would be called would have to be really artificially or arbitrarily limited for it to produce less torque than the M3's 3.2 I6. That said, the upcoming V8 version should be in the clear for now.

I'd sort of still rather they stay away from turbo M engines, at least for now. But as Bruhnke said, it should be 'the result that matters, not so much how you generate it', so I'm even open to that changing, eventually.

if they starts with Turbo in M car , I hope they find the formula for making it a high-reeving M Turbo.

They have high reving turbos. I believe the Mitsu Evos and Skylines rev to 7,500+ so it's not a problem.

Nice avatar.

It should be a dead issue on BMW using turbochargers for it's engines, nothing wrong w/ that at all. Absolutely lovely if you ask me, lowdown torque w/ incredible thrust.. doesn't get much better than that.

I dont care. Its good to have both options.

Turbo isnt something new for BMW and I know BMW been talking about using Turbo for many years now. So Im not surpised its here again.

Agreed! Plus, BMW has proven itself as a world's #1 N/A engines maker. Now it's time to show that they can make a turbo just as good as the their N/A engines are. Heck, even the mighty MB started to produce N/A engines and they've made a hell of a one. BMW with turbo can do the same, so YES, YES to turbo! Bring it on! :t-drive:

:t-cheers:

Don't know why, but for me BMW=n/a.

I don't know why either, but that is very wrong.

BMW hasn't used turbo lately, but they won the F1 world championship in a turbo'ed F1 car and BMW was with Porsche and Saab the first in Europe to have turbo in production cars...

Now they re-introduce it because they felt the time was ripe (due to technological developments)

Will turbo lag be a problem?

No, i don't think so. In my S60 turbo lag is minimized and it's nice, while in an A4 1.8T you can feel it --> more sporty

So you want to feel the turbo lag? I have never heard someone say that in my life :t-cheers:
