Probably one of those rare moments but the driver (guy on the last pic) prefer the American car over the German car.
Definitely the SL 65 AMG!! Of course the Corvette is cheaper, but I would love to have such a powerful car as Convertible…
Well, but already the standard SL 65 AMG is much more expensive then the Corvette…and comparing the BS with the ZR1 - there could be only one winner, and that would be the Corvette! And 80–120 km/h in just 1,9s is stunning - maybe I should vote for Corvette…but now it's to late.
Ugh....Why does the corvette keep popping up in Polls? The car (Corvette) sucks bricks IMO. The SL65 AMG looks 10 times better. Back in the day people kept getting mad at me for putting American Cars in Polls. I think I'm going to start putting them back in the polls now...since some of you are so excepting of them now.
So with all that technical info about both cars, and the performance figures posted in the opening thread, you base it all on looks? If the Corvette sucks bricks, then that logically also means that every AMG vehicle, and also a host of other European semi-supercars even more so suck brick. In this comparison, the Vette is one amazing car, completely makes the SL65 redudant in terms of performance..but if I had to choose one for myself, I'd go for the SL65 because in my opinion its performance is more than adequate to have a great experience, and the extra sophistication of the interior and techno-gadgets surpass the Corvette's. If price wasn't an issue, SL65..... but if it was, then it'd be the Vette in a heart beat! Heck, if Clarkson loves the car, then it has to be one heck of a car!
Why are they comparing the ZR1 to an SL65 AMG? The SL65 AMG is so heavy it isn't made for competitive track driving. In my eyes the car sucks bricks. I am not saying everyone should believe it sucks bricks, it's just my opinion. I personally fell out of love with the Corvette when I was 10 years old. In eyes it's like a poor man's Ferrari. Sure it has impressive performance numbers and so do other American cars as well. I'm just not impressed. Someone can put a 500HP V8 in the Hyundai Accent and get 0-60 in 1.2 seconds, it doesn't mean it's better then an S65 AMG just because it's faster.
Two stellar vehicles, but to very different vehicles. Forced induction, 4 big wheels, and similar hp number is all they share. SL65 AMG for me. More than enough performance for me and the top lets down. A rich enthusiast would solve this problem by simply having both of them. They're both worthy. M

The ZR1. It was a tough choice because the SL is one of my favorite cars. The reason I chose the ZR1 is because that car is a great car. I don't give a damn if the interior isn't as good as the SL or other cars because the pleasure it gives while driving is unmatched unless you get into the higher price ranges (or a GTR). Also, the ZR1 will be a collectors thing one day, so it is a good investment.
I've driven Corvette C5 and Z06 and they are splendid driving machines. I cant believe you do not like a Vette. Its more of sportcars than SL65 and the focus are on the driving and a Vette is more than just a fast acceleration car. Trust me, if you driven a Corvette you would be massive impressed and you wouldnt say the car sucks, LoL.
ZR1 is sick, but I still dislike it somehow, while for instance I do not dislike the new Skyline :eusa_thin:eusa_thin
