Audi Sportback concept

Could hint at a production model
A design sketch depicting what is believed to be the Audi TT Sportback concept has hit the web.

After the allroad shooting brake and offroadconcepts, Audi has prepared another concept based on the third generation TT which could hint at a production model. This time it's a sleek and elegant four-door sportback measuring 4.47 meters and offering enough room for rear passengers. It's also quite practical as folding down the rear seats will grant a cargo capacity of 850 liters.

Little else is known about the vehicle but German media is reporting the Audi TT Sportback concept is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine delivering 400 HP (294 kW).

It will be showcased starting October 2 at the Paris Motor Show where Audi will also bring the recently unveiled 2015 TT & TT S Roadster.

Espescially after reports that the TT is lass a sports car than the Golf R, perhaps this is a variant that will truly shine in its class.

The sketch looks fantastic, but the new TT is the most boring thing I´ve seen in a long long time. I have a hard time picturing myself excited about this.

We will see more cross-pollination between segments . It is not unthinkable to cross contaminate models from one segment to the other and in really unorthodox segments like sports cars with sedans and SUVs etc.
we have not even reached the end of the possibilities and you will see more ideas especially in the premium segment.

Audi TT Sportback concept breaks cover in Paris

Produces 400 PS (294 kW)
Audi has unveiled the TT Sportback concept at the Volkswagen Group Night presentation in Paris.

Designed to preview a possible expansion of the TT lineup, the Sportback concept has a familiar design but adopts a new front bumper and a revised grille with honeycomb mesh inserts. Moving further back, we can see two rear doors and a bespoke rear end with a nicely integrated tailgate. Other notable highlights include laser high-beam headlights, a dual exhaust system and 21-inch alloy wheels.

Overall, the concept measures 4.47 meters (14.7 ft) long, 1.89 meters (6.2 ft) wide and 1.38 meters (4.5 ft) tall with a wheelbase that spans 2.63 meters (8.6 ft). This makes the concept 29 centimeters (11.4 in) longer, 6 centimeters (2.4 in) wider and 3 centimeters (1.2 in) lower than the new TT Coupe. The concept's wheelbase has also been stretched by 12 centimeter (4.7 in).

The interior echoes the standard model and comes nicely equipped with premium leather upholstery, dark aluminum trim and gloss black accents. There are also two individual rear seats which are separated by a small center console.

Power is provided by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TFSI engine that produces 400 PS (294 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb?ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system which enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Despite the impressive performance, the concept returns 7.0 L/100km (33.6 mpg US) and has CO2 emissions of 162 g/km.

Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
