Quattro/S2 Audi Quattro Concept

Oh yeah!! Splendid. Bring it on Audi. IMO, it's gonna be the hottest comeback ever in the history of motoring yet! (y)

This car has the potential of being this years' IAA "show stealer".

In saying this, I wonder what BMW and M-B will bring to the table in Frankfurt. The novelty of the M4 Concept will have worn off a bit by then. Will M-B have a Concept S-Class (CL) Coupe on display ?

To my eyes both the white and the yellow one resembles the Mitsubishi Evo from the front, the white one less compared to the yellow one. Regardless of the white or yellow models I was expecting better results from Audi for the venerable Quattro nameplate. Only the beautiful interior is worthy of this nameplate. Design wise both are big disappointment and the yellow one is even a bigger disappointment.

That looks rather heavenly and I can see the new A5 Sportback baring a few characteristics seen here like the rear deck, green house and rear hunches in favour of a wavy character line.

Wolfgang Egger will be replaced as Audi designer, this design direction is dead.
Should we be worried? I mean, who is this new guy? What is he known for? Please God, don't let Audi go in to the same circle as MB are in now, and as BMW were in the Bangle era. I'll shoot myself.

So Audi chose this as the "image maker, brand ambassador" But they have the R8 for that already and the new R8 is just around the corner too.

Could ride on a shortened version of the A6 platform
Audi recently introduced a Sport Quattro concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show and new details are starting to emerge about the long-rumored production model which is slated to be launched in 2015.

While the concept featured a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine and an electric motor for a combined maximum output of 700 HP (515 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, Auto Motor und Sport says Audi development boss Ulrich Hackenberg has decided against a hybrid only lineup. Instead, the base model will reportedly have a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 340-360 HP (250-265 kW).

That might not sound like much but the car

will reportedly use a carbon fiber and aluminum body. This could enable the Quattro to tip the scales at 1300 kg (2866 kg) despite being equipped with an all-wheel drive system.

Production Audi Quattro May Be a Blend of Concepts!

Audi still isn't happy with the design and a third concept could be on the way.
Audi first got our hopes up regarding a reborn Quattro back in 2010 with the unveiling of the Quattro Concept at Paris. Sadly, nothing came of it. Then at Frankfurt 2013 the automaker teased us again by revealing the Sport Quattro Concept. The former was powered by a 2.5-liter five-cylinder that produced a wicked 408 horsepower. The 2013 concept, however, came with a twin-turbo V8 paired up with a hybrid system that produced a combined 700 hp.

Today we’re getting new word on what’s happening with this project. According to Audi’s CEO, "the car will come," but it may end up being a sort of a combination of those concepts. Audi R&D chief Ulrich Hackenberg wants the car to have that five-pot and build it on a modified version of the A6 platform. It’d also come with plenty of aluminum and carbon fiber throughout with a total weight at less than 2,900 lbs. Output would be at least 310 hp and could reach as high as 360. Hackenberg also isn’t fully happy with the exterior design, thus making a third concept possible. Amazingly, Audi is now considering building the new Quattro on a mass scale, instead of rolling out as a limited production model.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
