According to Automotive News , Audi officials feel that the Roadjet, which would have been positioned bwtween the A4 and A6 , doesn’t fit with the company’s new aggressive image.
More Details
doesn’t fit with the company’s new aggressive image.

Also Audi officials hint BMW's RFK project. It like saying that BMW made a wrong decision while they made the correct one.

Remember skepticism about Porsche Cayenne (Porsche making a large SAV!!!), and eg. about 4dr coupe - CLS by MB.
A5 is between A4 and A6 - that's enough.
btw - The Roadjet has many inovative and technical stuff inside and the interior is nice, actually you find many things from it in the TT
It's a nice concept, but TT ShootingBrake is the gap Audi needs to fill.
IMO
A5 is actually A4 Coupe.
What do you mean by saying that Audi needs to fill the TT ShootingBrake gap?
Sure Audi officials know what BMW are doing, and which BMW decisions are good / bad.
There is a common misconception particulary with the USA media who claim the RFK is an "MPV" , The European media get the idea of the RFK because they inturn refer to the announcements that BMW actually stress what their conception of the RFK or X6 is . it will have offer sleek striking design- a combination of coupe and fastback And the dynamics, comfort and performance expected of a BMW.Also ... F5 is larger (positioned above 5er), more luxurious, more dynamic & exciting than unispired Roadjet concept which was - let's be honest - just a slightly raised wagon.
Everybody was saying a while ago BMW was making a mistake launching a large SAV (X5). Same bitching was around when X3 was launched. And we are starting to hear complaints about X6. Not to mention F5 - and all media are claiming it's a mini-van / RFK. Remember skepticism about Porsche Cayenne (Porsche making a large SAV!!!), and eg. about 4dr coupe - CLS by MB.
F5 is quite a daring project yet BMW are very confident about the car. And even more so about X6. Both cars will open completely new segments (forget that Actyon). And both will offer excellent driving dynamics.
Again ... F5 has nothing in common with R-class, or Roadjet. Definitely not in looks department. And even less in driving dynamics.
So ... wait till 2009, and you will be very (pleasantly) surprised when F5 hits the showrooms.
It makes you wonder if Audi's comments are by themselves or their puppet masters who according to industry rumours are not overly happy that BMW and not Porsche are first on the market with a Sport Activity Coupe which fits within Porsche's image. Hence forth what are Porsche designers working on now?
But will Audi lose their creative independence?
