The first pictures of the Audi crossover coupe concept have leaked to the web ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show.

Likely a preview of the 2015 TT, the concept has a stylish exterior with a prominent grille that is flanked by distinctive headlights. The model also has plastic body cladding, a roof rack and 19-inch alloy wheels. The sporty styling continues out back as there's a tailgate-mounted spoiler and a dual exhaust system.

The interior closely echoes the TT as it has been equipped with a digital instrument cluster, circular air vents and a familiar dashboard. We can also see a flat-bottomed steering wheel, alloy pedals and the new MMI controller.

There's no word on specifications but the e-tron badges suggest the concept has either an electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain.

I'm massively disappointed if the exterior is gonna look like that on the new TT... So boring.

Interior as we already know, top notch.

Really Audi? The first gen TT was a revolutionary design, the 2nd gen was evolutionary, which is what people expected, however for the 3rd generation, people expect something more revolutionary again. This is just extremely boring.

Really ?

Everyone suddenly forgot a car called the 911 which in the last 40 years looks like it has changed design twice ?

The TT is Audi's 911, Audi's Golf.

Look elsewhere in their lineup for revolutionary designs.. Just like the case of the original TT and original R8, original 911 , X6 etc, such revolutionary design is easier to be expected on totally new model designations.

Look forward to the Q8, Q6, Q4.. Not the TT.

But Batman, the 911 is an icon, so too is the Golf.

The original TT with its Bauhaus styling was also kinda iconic (in the way it looked, not in the way it drove) as it was an arty design but that's where it ended for them. The 2nd generation was a risk-averse facsimile of the concept and it appears that the 3rd generation will follow suit with some very safe styling. This is design dilution - not quite with the same level of un-self-respecting cynicism portrayed by 21st century Beetle III - resulting either from the desire to play it safe or a perhaps a dearth of creative direction.

So now, they preview the new generation as - again - a shooting brake but this time as an allroad and, wait for it, an e-tron (read vapourware) to boot? Why do I get the distinct feeling that Audi is a company grappling with the spoils of becoming the full-on premium contender it so doggedly aspired to and yet is now running out of ideas?

Give it 30 years like the 911 and Golf had, and the TT would have been an icon too.

I mean what to expect from a small two door coupe this size ? Let's just wait for the R4, if they EVER make one. That puss.. That kitty is a mid-engined two seater, so definitely has potential.

If reaction is good. Then I could probably see a TT SUV as a lifestyle addition ( Evoque rival in style class).
The market is ripe for it.

I know Audi does not use to change their designs a lot, but this? C´mon!! I mean, there are obvious details that could see an evolution without changing the essence of the car. The character line could be stronger, and not the same tame line we have been seeing for the last 15 years, the wheel arches could be different as well. The front end is the part that changes the most, but I´m not sure it looks better than the current car, or than other Audi designs that could be translated to this car. The whole R4 Concept profile creases and front end could have been applied to the TT and would have given it a better result.

The rear is simply a joke. I mean, it is not ugly (again, I don´t think there´s a single ugly Audi design out there), but it´s just the SAME damm rear light design that the current TT features, saving that kink on the inner part. There wasn´t any other rear lights design Audi could incorporate? Maybe a R8 derived one, I don´t know, but at least change the design a little bit.

The interior on the other hand is nothing but fantastic, it outclasses the Z4 and the SLK by a mile.

I am surprised by the lack of response on this thread.

This concept previews the completely new shield grille, with less chrome and angular lines and 3D shapes.

The lights whisper Lamborghini and the production TT will be very pretty and timeless.

Yes it does not change much but look at the new 1er it is so ugly, and I'm religiously grateful Audi does not connect the front lights to the grille.

Perhaps more real life pics will point out my points.

They will one day.

I have a feeling that it is BMW who one day will separate their lights from the grille, realizing that it is a retarded (go ahead and dislike me, freakin you-know-who-you-are) design.

Maybe because when last night Superman came back from ten years in the future (you know, he occasionally flies and rotates and counter-rotates the earth to go front and back in time, just to fulfill his obsession of banging the same chick in EXACTly her 20th, 30th and 40th birthday. Yeah I think it's sick too but hell I'd do the same thing if this Bat could freakin FLY! Isn't it retarded that I am THE BATman and I can't freakin FLY ??)

Where was I ? Oh yeah, he told me that ten years from today, no BMW has headlights connected to the grille anymore.

But he could very well be smoking those damn kryptonites because he also said that BMW will ditch FWD, turbocharging and all SUV variants, he also cries to find out Lois is married to Stephen Amell and I bang Wonder Woman.

I thought this was a forum for enthusiasts about cars?

Lights connected to the grill like this?

Having the lights connected to the grill isn't new, so please don't spin it like it is something that nobody has done before. The only new thing is that the grill is more 3-dimensional.

As for the lack of response on this thread, it is probably because the majority here thinks this concept is boring.

That's it. Old VWs and some old Benzes had it too, don't know what's the story with it.

It is just the styling trend, back in the late 80s to early 90s, designers were starting to separate the headlights from the front grill, and after all these years, some are bringing them back, probably inspired by the past.

I agree with the Batman, but this Audi crossover coupe concept doesn't look good especially the rear. But for TT that rear will fit perfect because it looks like evolution of the MK2 TT rear. I like the interior tho, modern and minimalistic.

Oh, you right! He does not hate Audi!...

As you will need it I'll cursed at Audi to fit this forum.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
