GLE [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz GLE, formerly Mercedes-Benz M-Class (designated with the "ML" nomenclature), is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by the German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz since 1997. In terms of size, it is slotted in between the smaller GLC and the larger GLS, the latter with which it shares platforms.
The V12 was mentioned once again recently? :)

The only transmission on the Mercedes MLC is expected to be the new 9G-Tronic nine-speed auto. And as this can cope with up to 1,000Nm of torque, it will also be used on an MLC 63 AMG, powered by the firm’s 5.5-litre bi-turbo V8. Topping the range could be a 6.0-litre V12 MLC 65 AMG.

Mercedes-Benz Rival to The BMW X6 to be Called MLC

As many of you know, Mercedes-Benz has been officially preparing a rival to the four-door-coupe-SUV from BMW for about two years now.

Most non-design details about the model have also been known for some time as well, including the fact that it will share most of its underpinnings with the current W166 M-Class and the X166 GL-Class.

Like the aforementioned SUVs, the new fullsize luxury crossover will be built in the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

What hasn't been known but only mildly-speculated until now has been the model's name, with most media outlets reporting it to be either MLC or MLS.

According to MB Passion, who are usually right about most of their insider scoops, the new crossover will be called MLC, with some of the design details of its swooping overall look to also be shared with its bigger brother, the GL.

This way, earlier reports about the GL also receiving a “four-door-coupe-SUV” version of its own were obviously wrong.

Oddly, the internal designation of the model is apparently C253, so even though its platform is shared with the other two SUVs, Mercedes-Benz treats it as a very different model.

^ Agreed. The MLC is supposed to go on sale later this year or 2015? :)

The future X6-rival Mercedes MLC, the secret of which is to be aired in April 2014, is still going on sale this year - but there is also something new to report about the "conventional" brother of the SUV-coupe: Daimler is working on a refresh for the Mercedes M-Class, since the W166 series was introduced already at the end of 2012 and the nominal four-year cycle is coming to an end. http://www.germancarforum.com/commu...t-alabama-auto-plant.40333/page-2#post-679355
The MLC, a rival for the BMW X6, could show as soon as late 2014 along with an ML facelift and go on-sale in 2015. http://www.motoring.com.au/news/mercedes-benz/mercedes-benz-plans-suv-assault-41657
It will really be a niche-type product. I do not see it being a volume product. It will compete with the BMW X6. https://www.autonews.com/article/20140126/RETAIL06/301279995

Why haven't spies caught the MLC yet if its arrival is supposed to be so imminent? Perhaps a Concept Coupé precedes it? :)

“Stay tuned,” Weber said when directly asked about the prospect of the MLC and GLC being added to its lineup.

“We are not here to unveil all of our plans. [But] we are close to giving you details on this.

Wolf can we expect to hear something at Geneva?

As long as Mercedes doesn't drop it's quality again like it did back in 2000, and it doesn't start milking what AMG stands for, I'm fine with the expansion. Mercedes interior is by far the best in class right now, and the recent 2014 Dependability report shows off how much they've improved. Hoping to switch my family from BMW to Mercedes, starting with my sisters 328i convertible. She'd love a C Class 'Vert!

I had a dream. :)
