2 Series [Spy Shots] 2015 BMW 2 Series Spy Pics & Info

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.
You know how we Forum members stay up late behind our Pc's, laptops, tablets etc. When we wait for new 911's, Golfs and S-class's to be officially unvailed? That's how I feel about the 2er to be showcased officialy! Little boy who can't wait to open his b-day gifts...Hope me brand deiivers, I do have high hopes for this little deal braker.

Same holds true for me :)
I think everyone who loves BMW for their core values is excitedly looking forward to the 2 series...
Light, nimble, RWD - good design and an upcoming real E30 M3 successor - al least for me this is all I am projecting on to the 2 series ....

(y) Exactly, if it can tackle those simple yet important core principles, then we are talking.

I have a feeling this car will be very good. The F20 was 30kg lighter than the first 1 Series so we can expect a similar weight drop here, refined, punchy, economical turbocharged engines will replace the wheezy NA engines at the bottom of the range, the 35i model will be M Performance, the M2 will be series-production, and while it ( the M2 ) won't have an inline-six, 4 cylinders does mean a lighter front end, and less weight over the front wheels, and from what little we can see so far the proportions look spot on, and styling wise it will differentiate itself from the F20 to justify a slightly elevated price tag. The only caveat is that the electric steering won't be as feelsome as the old hydraulic rack, but thats a small price to pay for what I think will be a much better car than its predecessor. :)

Scott previously stated that the 2-series coupe will be shown at the IAA 2013, but I don't know if it will be a concept or the production version.

I know wheel arches are your thing (have been for many years) but it is simply impossible to draw any conclusions like that yet. The arcs are impossible to see with all this fake cladding...

Well it's likely going to be identical to the F20 in that respect, it's not going to get a brand new front end for sure, you can see it well from the pic taken from the back.. and ya got to agree that the flare of the arches are less than the E87 by far. of course with the F20 it doesn't match more flare due to its weird face. Don't know, wider wheel arches or wide wheel arches is a BMW thing and unfortunately they are not going to make the 1series look as good as other models. Anyway i hope this turns out much better.

Thanks Picsoubmw. That a long way away and the 1 series will be 2 years old by the time the 2 hits the market. Quite odd considering how heavily related they are.

Yes, I agree but I think BMW have some reason to do that :
- Avoid loosing sales with the outgoing 3-series coupe
- 1-series/2-series coupe isn't a huge seller in Europe
- First market is the USA, where the 3dr/5dr hatch is not available

I heard today that we will know more about the 2-series next week. Last surprise before the end of this year perhaps.

Though in previous spy pics it didn't have the quarter pane.

Though the concept did...

Can someone make a side profile comparison pic of the 2-series vs E46 coupe ? I think it would make a very interesting comparison.
