S-Class W222 [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).
I get the impression you got enormous pleasure from correcting me. .......

It's not a competition to see who can outdo the other person. It's about learning something along the way.

As a personal observation, I firmly believe that Gianclaudio derived no pleasure from being critical in this case and that his intention was miles away from criticising your English. Instead, I read the spirit of this as him being genuinely chuffed that he could contribute from a language perspective. I think it's pretty cool that a guy known as Gianclaudio from some God-forsaken place like Bolivia* - or thereabouts - gets excited about his command of the English language. Props!

* I kid, I kid!!! I'm sure Bolivia's a lovely place... as far as high-altitude deserts go... :p

Having read his response I tend to agree.

so no more S class pullman, i was so looking forwaard to see it

There will be a Pullman (internal code VV222) with very small volumes, just as it was offered for the W221, for ultra discerning clients like heads of state, and will probably also be offered with MB Guard. It's just not a "Maybach successor". :)

“The Pullman is the successor of the Pullman,” contends Mercedes-Benz head of product management for S-Class and roadsters Lutz Regelmann. “I don’t think the Pullman is the successor to the Maybach.”

This war in Europe seems to be spreading to it's colonies... I'm sure it will be only a matter of time until us Americans are dragged into it...:-)

That's a bummer. I really wanted to see a unique and distinctive 57 replacement to wear the Three Pointed Star, but I guess we can wait until the W225 comes.

Should be able to travel at least 30 km (18.6 miles) on electricity alone

Mercedes has quietly introduced the 2014 Mercedes S500 Plug-in Hybrid at a small press briefing.The company hasn't released official information but Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog went to the event and managed to learn some new details about the upcoming model which will be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show.According to the site, the car uses a six-cylinder petrol engine that develops 333 HP (245 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. It is backed up by an electric motor which is powered by a trunk-mounted 8.7 kWh battery. The engine reportedly powers the rear wheels, while the electric motor motivates the front wheels.This setup should enable the model to travel at least 30 km (18.6 miles) on electricity alone. More importantly, the model will be a "3-liter car" (78.4 mpg US / 94.1 mpg UK) and have CO2 emissionsof less than 75 g/km.Check out the source link for additional photosSource: Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog

I maintain a 'first class rear' seat package equipped S500(/550) LWB <£100k S-Class is superior in every way to a 'base' £200k Ghost or £150k Flying Spur, and the as-yet unseen Pullman, based on the XWB model, will be superior to a Mulsanne or Phantom.

A lot of the perceived ultra-premium brand appeal of Bentley and Rolls-Royce is just a function of the stratospheric pricing. If Mercedes can show that they have a truly better car at half the price that perceived appeal will melt away, in similar fashion to Maybach's.

I'm not so sure. Despite being a fan of the Phantom and having sat in both, I still feel that the Maybach has the better 'first class rear seat' compared to the RR, but the sales figures tell a different story.

As Betty mentioned, in this segment, the badge plays a huge role. People want a badge that screams "I am the 1%". MB need to come up with a way of differentiating itself as the brand that also sells the A class yet still cash in on the W222's class leading image.
