M5 [Official] BMW M5 (F10)

The BMW M5 is a high-performance variant of the BMW 5 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. It is considered an iconic vehicle in the sports saloon category. The first M5 model was hand-built beginning in late 1984 on the E28 535i chassis with a modified engine from the M1 that made it the fastest production saloon at the time. M5 models have been produced for every generation of the 5 Series since 1984, with occasional gaps in production (1995 to 1998, 2023 to 2024). Official website: BMW M
^BMW itself is claiming 3.7s (according to this article - http://www.motorauthority.com/news/...m5-official-details-on-the-600-hp-super-sedan) vs 4.2 for the normal one.

BMW is claiming 3.9 secs in the press release. 3.7 0-60 MPH maybe.

Normal M5 managed 3.88 s 0-100 kph in Sportscars with a 0-200 time of 11.8 s. They said it had much more power than claimed... so I'm guessing this limited edition model will be even more powerful... :p

Agreed.

Btw, BMW M GmbH is getting a new employee ... Audi's Quattro GmbH recently sacked chief Franciscus van Meel. :) Bringing some AWD expertise to M GmbH, and marketing & engineering know-how regarding RS vs S ... to help establish M vs M Performance lines (eg. M2 vs M235i).

Definitely an indication next gen M5 & M6 will (also) be offered with AWD. Rumor has it RWD versions will be offered with manual gearbox only, while AWD versions will only get an automatic.

Please upload some more Beemer!

Here you go! :D

That alcantra looks really really good in this interior, however i would be hestitant to have it and all this cf trim in a big luxury sedan like this

Will be interesting to see what changes he makes to BMW's AWD and how it will be integrated into M DNA.

So far its looking like no manual at all for the next M5 and M6 although there is still ample window to decide.
Although a manual will be the mainstay of the M2 , M3 and M4.

xDrive is coming to a non X- M product , but we will ask our customers do you want lightweight? Or more grip?
And we will provide the choice of two models but one cannot be the same as the other despite the extensive weight loss programme that will feature with the M5.

It will be more advanced in Carbon technology than the new M3. Perhaps you can say extensively more advanced in its application. Of course the benefits of Its lightweight chassis will provide more hardcore dynasm than before and utilise its 600 + horsepower effectively but Efficiency is considered important too for some markets. So there will be advanced technology to help with emissions.

The look of the M5 conforms to the more edgier look of today's M models, again honed within the BMW wind tunnel to provide the right amount of downforce and air to the engine. The overall look will be more harder and aerodynamic influenced than the current car with sculpted air curtains beside the brake cooling intakes.

The next M5 will be launched in 2017.

They're all the best looking :D

I used to have the E39 M5 as I had an E34 M5 and an E60 M5. I remember it perfectly in Silverstone Metallic. Sadly when it was sold on the owner put some dreadful aftermarket shit on it , but it looked like this before it was destroyed. My only reminder is this 1/18 model that reflects the color and interior specification.

The Amazonite Silver current car is getting replaced this summer. I am in the pool for this one.

Yeah, the E39 is one of the most special BMWs ever made. I can see why so many think it's the best.

The car introduced the quad exhaust for M, that alone makes it special.

The M5 peaked with the E39 and whilst everything since has improved on its abilities they have lost a bit of it's soul in the process.

Having spent the last few months driving the brother's M5 off and on I have one question directed towards BMW about this special edition M5, more power.... like seriously you reckon this was one thing the standard car was lacking in. o_O

No there is more than just Power and some exclusive badges.

"improved M-specific Servotronic function as well as an improved M Dynamic mode, prepared to use the full potential of the increased power and traction."

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
