M3/M4 [Spy Shots] 2014 BMW M3 (Impressions, SpyPhotos, Renderings)

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Well, so S55 (I6) is almost 100% sure. What is not known is the number of turbos and the displacement, if 3.0l or 3.2l, what is the maximum possible based on N55. The S55 may share parts with the "S20" an M reworked version based on the N20 making up to 350 PS. This is the engine to be found in the M2. All this sounds logic, as the M engines are based on AG engines what gives us all together three "true" BMW M engines, the V8, the I6 and the I4. This gives us an M6 making 560 PS, an M4 making about 450 PS and an M2 making about 340 PS.

I think it may end up being a tri-turbo 3.0 litre I6 engine based on what they have done with the diesel engine.

Anyone know when is the official unveiling supposed to be?

- quad pipes
- 275/35/20 tires
- not F30 shape
- not E92 front

It could be the M3 F80, but it doesn't have its shape, it looks more like coupé. It could be the M6 GranCoupé, M6 has 295 tires, not 275. It could be the 4 Series F32, but the 275 tires are too wide for a AG car andit has quad pipes. It could be the M3 CSL E92, but the front is like Z4 and F30. So this can only be the M4 F82. But the it will only be reavealed in Geneva 2014 if to follow history as with the E46 and E92.

M4 Grand Coupe? Looks longgg, Scoot what is it and when is planned to show us?.......

Interesting...

Also, good research Levi. Not that I agree per say, but good nonetheless. Somehow the shape reminds me of the new hardtop cabrio?

Where do you see quad pipes? And I think the tire size is 275/35 ZR 19, not 20.

Yea it is possible it is M4. Other possibility is perhaps 4GC concept like the 6GC concept that was displayed before 6 coupe.

Yeah, you could be right. By the way, Southlight said the car is no more at the museum, and Scott siad it will be brought back to Garching, M GmbH headquaters.

Based on the new pictures, especially the profile visible in the first new picture, I would say it's the M6 Gran Coupe

M6 F13 front tires are 265/40 ZR19 and rear tires are 295/35 ZR19. So 275/35 ZR 19 are more likely M4 F82 rear tires than M6 F08 front tires.

BMW M6 GranCoupe - latest pics | Autocar

Looks like the same proportions to me. I don't care what wheels are on the car at the moment. The M6 Gran Coupe is the next BMW due to be unveiled.

The outline of the headlights (if it is indeed that) look very different from the 6er. May be the car was just meant for some internal presentation which would explain why it is showing up so early and out of turn.

BMW M4 gets rendered

Ever since the new BMW 3-Series saloon was released earlier this year, we’ve wondered what the coupe version (to be known as the 4-Series) and its M-version would look like.
Well now, thanks to the expert rendering skills of Roger Lighterness over at BMWBlog, we can imagine how the M4 will look. Taking the front end style of the 3-Series, Roger has given the M4 a lower nose, flared arches and the trademark M-GmbH side vents. The rear end sees a shape like the current coupe which is a fair guess.
The new M3 and M4 models were recently confirmed by President of BMW North America, Mr. Ludwig Willisch, to be powered by an in-line six cylinder turbo engine. It is expected to have two or three turbos and develop around 450 HP (331 kW / 444 bhp).
M-fans will be pleased to hear that though a V6 turbo engine was considered, BMW decided to stick with the traditional BMW layout of an in-line six cylinder engine.

Hate the positioning of exhaust! They should be more separated to left and right, it would look better imo...

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
