Can`t disagree with you there.. my only complaint is the black bars holding up the rear window.. whats up with that.

BTW guys, now that the car has lost most of the camo and we can see how it´s gonna look like, could anyone change a bit the white car PS to incorporate thr bigger grille the spy pics siggest?.

Although Mercedes has done its best to disguise the SL by covering it in heavy cladding, we can see that the new generation model keeps its predecessor's two-piece folding hard top, while the styling is expected to adopt the German firm's more "artsy" design philosophy as seen on the latest CLS and recent concept models such as the F800 Style, along with a more in-your-face front grille.
Being that the 2012 SL was developed alongside the SLS Gullwing, the two models are likely to share certain key components such as the suspension bits and electrical systems.
Information regarding the engine range remains scarce, but buyers should expect a entry-level V6 and the usual lineup of V8 units including Merc's newly developed 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8 for the AMG model, and possibly, an upgraded V12 for the flagship version.

I have no doubt about the S and the SL, I mean really I hope not. The wedge shape is the same here, but that front end will be flat and blunt for EU ped regs. Hopefully the S and SL share the same new interior concept. Can you imagine it, but the a CL is coming soon in these spy shots.

Hopefully the S and SL share the same new interior concept.

I hope NOT ! The spy pics show that the SL's interior is nothing special, a mix of the new SLK and M-class.

Besides, Merc has announced they will have 3 different interior themes for their future cars : sportscars, saloons and SUV/MPVs. Example : we won't see SLS/SLK/SL 's round air vents on the saloons.

Dieffenbacher confirms. ;)

Daimler orders Dieffenbacher press for carbon fiber composites production

Compression molding machine manufacturer Dieffenbacher (Eppingen, Germany) announced that it has received an order from Daimler to deliver a press to be used for series production of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components. From 2012 onwards, the COMPRESS PLUS 2500/2200 will start producing lightweight parts to be used as reinforcing components at the automaker’s Esslingen, Germany, plant.

Awesome new. That might mean the new SL and S-Class will make use of CF body panels which aren't cosmetic or marketing purposes but for actual weight loss.

I certainly hope that the rendering of the white SL is accurate.

If so, the SL will harald a return to the M-B design signature that has been missing from so many of its' models over the course of the past several years.

Clean, precise, monolithic, timeless and simply oozing sporting elegance and vault-like quality. A true successor to the fabulous R129 SL.

Welcome back, M-B !! I hope...

SL surely, but I'm more doubtful about S-Class as CF panels make less sense in a large luxury saloon.
