Hmm. "Old" GT3 RS 4.0? Let's see.. ME!
First new 911 in 13 years and they do this! Good job, really good job. A striking feature is the Lotus/Macca-ish rear, it works really well and somehow disguises the hunchback look.
Also a nice evolution of the old one, not as button laden as the Panny and the Cayenne.
Everything is relevant Michael..we are talking 911 terms..
Maybe I'm being nostalgic, but after seeing a classic 1970's 911 drive past me earlier today, I feel that the new 991 has forgotten it's roots. Curves, a semblance of a flat rear deck, a swept-back A pillar and a low roofline? Are we really talking about a 911?
The 991 evokes supercar-esque superlatives - sleek; curvy; sexy. These are words that I do not associate with the 911. The 911, at it's core, is ugly. It has design cues that would not work on any other car. Those large, circular headlights, that upright windscreen and the frog-like rear end - imagine a Ferrari with any of those styling elements and Luca di Montezemolo will personally come and punch your lights out. But ultimately the 911's looks have become it's defining character; a car which shouldn't have worked, whether it be from a design or engineering standpoint, but which has gone on to become an icon of the automotive industry and a design classic. It is an institution and the elements that make the 911 a 911 should always remain.
But from a styling standpoint, the new 991 breaks the trend of it's forefathers and has become something different. Too big, too curvy, too sleek. I'm sad to say, it just doesn't look like a 911.
I've said it before and I will keep saying it. This is a Ferrari 911. Reminds me more of a 360 Modena than a 911 to be honest
GTS, GT3, GT3 RS, GT3 RS 4.0, GT2 RS????
Michael, yeah, the new 911 is 1.1 cm lower than the old one.
First driving experience:
Driving the new 911 - 991 -
So it appears that again there will be a choice of multifunction steering wheel with PDK buttons or Non multi function steering wheel with the PDK paddles.
If you want more ergonomic paddles than you can not have volume control for your radio on the steering wheel.
the 911 has always been a pretty car.
This is my fav retro 911
^^^ never seen that before! Looks stunning I agree!
My Brother has a white one. Looks exactly like this:
Ahh yes the "slant nose" model from the 80's. My favorite was the slant nose turbo cabriolet. MC Hammer had one, emphasis on had.
Love it! The white one looks sweet too!
New pictures from AMS :
Oh yes please!!!!!
So pure and clean of a design. Amazing. I wish Mercedes would go back to this school of design.
I am anticipating something really special with the introduction of the Panamera II (MY 2015) and the new sub-Panamera model line code named "Pajun" due for intro in 2015/2016. Criticism of the Panameras' exterior design has not fallen on deaf ears at Porsche AG (or better said, the VW Group) and if this new 911 is anything to go by, I speculate that we will see a far sleeker, very svelte successor.
What an amazing car this will be!
Oh It's good.. It's sooo good!!
The proportions are divine! it's gonna be a stunner in the metal!!
Now bring out a new 928!!
