Samsung put this out after the iPhone 4s event yesterday

The S II is also available in 32GB versions not only 16GB add to that SD cars up to 32GB ones.

Rumours are circulating that Galxy S3 will be quad core plus a 720p screen.

history has proven us that its not always technology which makes a device superior
just think about the first iphone, the specs themselves didn't make it popular
and we can probably also put the kindle fire onto that list

I hear people calling the iPhone 4S the iPhone for Steve (4S).

I am going to get one because it's his last product. He will not see future launches :(

Consumers are blind to spec sheets. They don't understand them. All that's meaningful is that a device feels fast. The attraction is how it is to use, not what specs are on the box or how many Nvidia stickers there are on the device.

Look at the spec sheet. The only major difference I see is that I can use my 700$ GSII as my TV remote IF I have a samsung tv, which might mean I have to spend 2000$ to purchase. That really doesn't sound all that great to me. And yea, as Centurion said- I will bet you a good chunk of people who buy these phones have no idea what a "core" is, whether super amoled>retina display, or what android being an open platform even means.

I've never owned a Smart Phone, It's just not a necessity to me. I don't even want to get an iPhone as I don't want to open up a "new window" of which I'll now need and depend on something unnecessary to me right now (call it the "Caveman" technique.... You keep yourself a Caveman to something and you have no idea about what you're missing out on, and it doesn't matter to you).

However, funny you say this, 'cause I was thinking I want to buy one just to have, as it'll be the last one done with Steve around to at least somewhat oversee it. From here on out, Steve's magic will have to be under interpretation and trust of others.

^ True.

It's debatable how much/what his influence exactly was, but one thing is sure now; it's gone. And it's probably for the worse.

I hate to say it, because I was one who was saying that Apple will live on as supreme as it does without Jobs, but I think the "Magic" is over.

They'll be fine for at least another 2-3 years, as everything is already in the pipeline already probably, but the current team better hope that they really captured what Steve wanted and his business/creative techniques. Many of which cannot be taught btw. Let's face it, Apple was his vision, and without him, the vision is altered, but the blueprint is intact.... We'll see whether for the better or worse.

Tim Cook has the most massive shoes to fill, and damn will he have to put in some work to earn that huge paycheck.

If we start seeing iPhones with plastic screens, and diminished/soft materials, we know the company's over. Steve touted uncompromised quality, and when the OG's leave company's (this goes for Car Companies as well), that's when the bean-counting vultures can take over, and suck the soul out of the Products via cost-cutting everything out.

I believe the 4S has closed at least a part of the gap between the iphone 4 and the Galaxy S-II.
However, recently Samsung has introduced the Galaxy S-II HD LTE with 1.5GHz processor and a 4.5inch screen with a resolution of 1280*720, also with upgraded battery to handle the raise in power consumption.

I think the SG2 HD LTE is available only in S. Korea for the meanwhile. Does anybody know if and when will it be available in Europe/US?? Can I get it online from S. Korea at the moment?

Haha, I'll try and remember this quote a few years from now when keyboards will be obsolete because of voice controlled apps such as SIRI.;) Its definitely a game changer.
Not sure if you are aware of Vlingo, which has been around for a while now, it has similar functionality as SIRI, so SIRI it isn't really a big new innovation. I only use it when I am driving, that is about it. I don't use it when I am out in the public or at work because I don't want people to hear what I am up to.

A few things that I have noted in the past few days.

First, both Samsung and Google have announced they are postponing the release of their phones. Though, they have simply stated they are postponing it, sources close to the decision say it was out of respect for Mr. Jobs. I believe it may have to do with advertisements arguing that with their new phones Apple has died, and considering the recent news it would seem inappropriate.

Another thing is that so far it seems that Apple has sold out of the iPhone 4s with respect to launch day if you pre-order. Of course, the phones will be available at local apple stores but no one really knows how much quantity will be there. I think Apple has taken steps every year to make it easy to get a hold of their new gadgets. So, inventory may be higher this time around.

Apple will make people use it, trust me. Its just like how no one really video chatted until facetime. Watch voice control become the next big thing.

Apple may continue to maintain certain Jobs principles of no-compromise. What will be gone with the man, I believe, is the knack to pick the NEXT thing out of a myriad of ideas and concepts. I doubt the iPad and iPhone were Jobs' brainchild. But, Jobs was the one, by all accounts, that believed in them and pushed them through. When he retired, the press went through a milder version of what his death sparked, and a lot of analysts were recalling how Jobs was astute more for which concepts he rejected than the ones he approved. That knack may have died with him. In that respect, Apple now is just another company, albeit one with a culture firmly based on a no-compromises approach. They also say that the fact that Apple products lack--or adopt later than competition--certain no-brainer features, is also a Steve Jobs thing. He rejected the adoption of technologies he thought had not matured yet, and whose execution he found to be less than perfect.

While most of the things you have said are true, the comment about the iPad and the iPhone not being Jobs' brainchild is not true. He had envision the iPad before the iPhone, but the iPhone was easier to accomplish (smaller screen) than the iPad. While he may not have had the names figured out, he had the whole idea of a tablet figured out.

That is good to know.

Makes me think. He got booted from Apple in the 80s, goes and revolutionizes the animation industry. I wonder what would have happened if he had taken on the auto industry.

There's also an app called "Dragon Go!" developed by Nuance, the same company that just bought Swype.

There's a comparison chart on Siri, Vlingo and Dragon Go! over at PCMag:

OK i was one who said i would go look seriously at a S2 if there would not be a iphone 5 last week.
I did, and yes the S2 is an excellent device, the screen is impeccable, speed was excellent and camera is super, spec-wise it kicks the i4's ass, and probably better than the 4S as well. After consideration I didn't buy it, even when I only have a 3GS. I was too worried I would regret, the apps i get and the functionality i get (after jb) on my phone is just superb and i can almost do anythign without thinking or much finding. And the other reason is, even if i ONLY base my decision on an economic/financial basis, I should go for an iphone 4 because it's going to hold up its value much much better. The S2 depreciates like a car, while with the i4, even after a year it holds its value reasonably well, at least it is not neglible that i would consider it scrap.

So, OK i give up, i'll wait further. THe thing is, yes the S2 has all these hardcore features but the point is, I don't need a damn super quad core or something in my cell phone when my computer is just dual core. I hope the next iphoen will get a real GPS though.

Also i just bought an iPad 2 after laughing at its uselessness in the past. What a genius Steve Jobs.!
