w 210 power windows

Hi,
could someone help me please?
I have w 210 1997, E200 (100 kW) for a year now. The front windows (together with power mirrors, door lamps, remote opening windows etc) haven't worked since we bought it. I was told to disconect battery for a 3 minutes because it probably get some memory problems. I did it several times, but everything that i said worked just for a day or two, and everything was stucked again. I don't know what to do any more. I went to service and they told me to change some windows modules. It is so expensive so I'm not sure about it. Power windows' motors is ok since it work for a while. I supose it is some electronical problem but which one? Is it really about this windows modules?
I would like to share problem with someone who have the same,similar or just know about that things. Is something broken or the car just should be reprogrammed or something?

First of all, where are you located?

Sounds like the module. If the motors work and the regulators work then it is electronic. Fairly common issue, just find out which one is bad so you don't have to replace the wrong ones.

How does the module look like? How can I find out which one is bad (do I have modules in each door-4 or just in front)?

I had the same car as you except it was from 1998.
My car also had this problem with the electric windows exactly as you described above. The electric windows, mirrors and the door lights were not functioning.

I also did the same thing as you but instead of disconnecting the battery I just unplugged and then plugged in the fuse that regulates the electric windows at the front. This method just works for a few days and then it stopped functioning again.
At first they thought it was the window module, they replaced mine as they initially thought that was the cause of the problem. Unfortunately within a week the windows stops functioning again.

Then they checked all the 4 motors for the electric windows, which all worked perfectly fine at first sight. But then they came with the conclusion that one of the motors was causing an electric shortcut which in turn malfunctioned the electric windows at the front. They replaced the motor that was causing the electric shortcut and ever since then I never had any problems with the electric windows anymore.

In my case the shortcut was caused by the electric motor of the left rear windows.
Tell your garage to measure all 4 motors for shortcut, it might be the cause.
