Apple's 4th-generation iPhone revealed

yeah, one small claim for jobs, one giant arrogant Ass for the industry

:eusa_thin have you seen the conference video of the 16th of july ? you will see a man who really loves his company. i have followed steve jobs conferences in the past couple of years, and this one was definitely the most moving one. there is so much passion in his words, during some situations he even lost the line - which has never happened during any conference.
i come to know some people who know mr. jobs, and they will just tell you the same thing - he is perfectionist, but definitely not arrogant.
i'd wish that bmw(insert any other company here) would have had the ass to stand up in front of the press/industry and excuse themselves for the faulty gearboxes in the R50 Mini...

btw.: the only apple product i own is an iMac, so no fanboy alert ;-)

have you counted how many times they call the ipad magical in the adds, and zoom in on twinkling eyes? It's becoming a freaking cult.

edit: which wont stop me from buying one though, gonna use it as my universal remote hehe, i know, i'n a hypocrite hehe

All those people who loved Apple suddenly hate them with a passion.

Oh well, Apple couldn't care less; they're not a brand of tech geeks anymore, but for the masses, and that's where the money is to be found...

To all the haters: tough luck guys!

and with this that growth has come the decline of Q&C... The ridiculous mess with the iMac screens, the new iPhone, the wifi problems with the iPad. I personally went through 6 iMacs before I received one with no yellowing of the screen. The current one I have has grey bars across the top and bottom, but I honestly cannot be bothered to replace it.

I use Apple products, except for OS X, but the arrogance of the company is blinding. Who honestly, gets up and defends a faulty product by saying other manufacturers products also have a similar problems, which isn't comparable by the way. Steve Jobs stood up before the media, essentially denied there was a problem with the iPhone, then offered a free bumper case for the supposed no problem. Something doesn't fit?

and with this that growth has come the decline of Q&C...

Not really. I could tell you problems which occurred with the cracks in the G4 Cube, audio problems with the G5 PowerMac, logic board failures with the iMac G5 etc. It's not a new thing with Apple, but the big difference is back then, Apple products being below par just weren't newsworthy, but now that Apple are one of the biggest consumer technology companies in the world, there's much more publicity, and thus, more hoo-hah when their products have problems.

Steve Jobs stood up before the media, essentially denied there was a problem with the iPhone, then offered a free bumper case for the supposed no problem. Something doesn't fit?

"Now when we look at this data, it's hard to escape the conclusion that there is a problem, but that problem is affecting a very small number of users. I get emails saying the phone works perfectly, and they can't understand what this is all about. So we think it's affecting a small batch, but it has to do with inherent problems in smartphones. But we want all of our users to be happy."

"We think this has been so blown out of proportion... it's fun to have a story, but it's not fun on the other side. So here's what we're going to do to make our users happy. The first part is the software update, that fixes the way the bars report and other bugs, that's out now. Second, people said the bumper fixes everything... 'why don't you give everybody a case'? Okay -- we'll give you a free case."

Transcript from the press conference available here.

So we think it's affecting a small batch, but it has to do with inherent problems in smartphones.

Read: There is no problem with our phone. everyone else has the problem, this phone is perfect and I am only here because investors are losing money and I want to be seen doing something.

I think the iPhone is a good phone. The iPhone 4 has all the characteristics of a good phone, but a flaw as prominent as a misplaced finger killing all data transmission is not an small problem in my eye and cannot be sugar coated with the rhetoric spin of one of the most arrogant men in the world. That is all I am saying and nothing that has been said or done can my change my opinion on this thus far.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. If you put a case on it, which I was going to do anyway, it works. That's good enough for my use.

^^ You Jobsonites are funny... its all marketing inspired "passion", it's made to sell and for you to "love" the company so much you'll forget when they #$%^ up.

Your comment makes a lot of sense, given this quote from Jobs in 1996 when he was not with Apple:

Steve Jobs said:
The problem is I’m older now, I’m 40 years old, and this stuff doesn’t change the world. It really doesn’t. These technologies can make life easier, can let us touch people we might not otherwise ... it's a disservice to constantly put things in this radical new light - that it's going to change everything.

Interesting that now that he's back as iCEO that every new Apple product is instantly a technological 'revolution' -- in essence he is bathing each product in the same 'radical new light' that he dismissed as balony 15 years ago.

Awesome... looks like the Droid X has the same problem...

I hope that was sarcasm. These videos apple is putting up, just REEKS of desperation and the people who own these phones are complaining in the forums about how, besides apple, they aren't able to reproduce these same results. In other words, Apple is BSing these vids.

My brother got a iPhone4 last week... and the issue is very real.

He confirms a 2 bar drop when holding the phone "incorrectly" ;)

IOS4 is Apple's equivalent to Windows Vista. It is absolutley terrible. I've got it installed om my current iPod touch generation and it iq quite sluggish at times, freezes and has quite a few bugs. It's not a pleasurable experience at all, and restoring the phone and reinstalling IOS4 hasn't helped either.

I saw one on the streets yesterday and I have to say, like I said before, I'd seriously buy one on looks alone. It's damn sexy.

But I have to wait, I'm longing for a decent full keyboard smart-phone ( had a htc P4350 and adored it at the time ) so I'm looking if the samsung epic/Galaxy S pro will come to europe or what samsung, LG or HTC will bring with windows phone 7. There is sooooo much stuff in the pipeline for september/oktober, buying a phone now would be stupid.

No.

Well they are trying to spin it off as something all other phones have, which is true. What they are trying to hide is this:

It is a design flaw. End of story. ios4 only works good on the new hardware because its resource hungry, just like Android and Win Phone 7. Why do u think they all need those 1 ghz cpu and have minimum requirements guidelines ?

I am going for the Nokia N8 and Symbian 3 :usa7uh: USB ON THE GO alone makes it a "no contest" buy for me. Not even going to mention the camera sensor on it. And it looks good.. in black

I own a - bumper-equipped - iPhone 4 since a couple of weeks. I have no probs with signal drop (I'm a leftie) and iOS 4 works like a charm.

Apparently iOS4 only works like a charm with the iPhone 4. I wonder why Apple even made it available for the older iPhones/iPods since it's pretty obvious it's too heavy for them. :t-hands:

EDIT: Ah, OK I now see you were answering my question. :)

Which iPhone/iPod do you have BTW?
