I've been looking for this one in high resolution for a long time, finally got it!

Hello everybody,

I consider the M5 E39 to be the best M5 ever made.
The way it combines elegant understatement and superb performances is unique and it's a caracteristic of the BMW's of the pre-Bangle era.
I know it is not as fast as the M5 E60 but the E39 is more emotional and it's more user friendly having a V8 and not a thirsty and non-eficient V10.
For the fans of the M5 E39, here is an english 2001 brochure.:D

PS: if you have any scans of tests, comparison test (with the E55 AMG W210 in particular) or brochures with the M5 E39, please post them.:eusa_pray

Karma for posting the brochure! E39 is still my all-time favorite M5!

A pic request....

I love this thread...the E60 has 500 hp, 7-speed SMG, and tons of other gizmos, but it still does not hold a candle to the E39. I love the look, especially the gunmetal-finished wheels.

I have a request...
There's a press photo that BMW released of the pre-FL E39 M5 that was banking on a racetrack at dusk. This was my desktop when I was in teenager and I can't find now for the life of me. I've searched the interweb but no luck. I loved that pick. From a head on view, with its headlights on, it looked sinister and evil.

thanks! :t-cheers:

That was my first wallpaper on my previous computer! I had it for years :D

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
