Yeah, now that I look at it more I notice that it's an old render. I was wondering what Bimmer they were showcasing, but I assumed it was the F01 facelift or something, lol. Damn, I hope the W222 has nothing near that mess of lines and sheetmetal play.

I think the skeleton's a C, btw.

I know the W222 is a whole different S class, but the W221 rear lights goes down in my books as an all time favourite design

Do you mean the current one or the former ones?

I would like so much to be like my brother. He doesn`t care about test mules, spy shots, pre-infos, rumors or anything like this about cars. He just likes them when all the job is done. He like to comment only about real deal. He is waiting for the w222 so much, and he didn`t see even 1 spy shot.

Gorden Wagener may have dropped a hint recently? ;)

"We are pursuing grandeur as the highest form of the aesthetic."

Autonews Europe asked: "Will you dig out still more ideas from the past, such as the gullwing door?"

Gorden Wagener replied: "Mercedes will never build retro models, at most a modern interpretation like the SLS. The G-Class is an example of an icon that you could carefully reinterpret, but I won't reveal more at this point."

The might get back the number 1 luxury sales leader.

The might get back the number 1 luxury sales leader.

They always have been.
A lot of people seem to forget that the current W221 S-Class was released in 2005, the current 7er is from 2009 and the A8 from 2010.
That's why the Merc. might look a bit outdated, when they release the new one in Q4 2012 they have a massive leap forward in comparison to the other 2.
Just like it happend back in '05!

Stop talking nonsense

They slightley cocked up during the 1998-2005 period 'cause they merged with Chrysler, but they still are the most respected elite car manufacturer.
Audi or BMW will never reach that level, 'cause if you want to take on an institution like Mercedes you can't be just as good, you've got to be at least 20 times better.

This is even more nonsense :)

You overestimate Mercedes-Benz, as simple as that. The company needs someone younger as a chairman. BMW is leading now with a lot of engines choices, has diversified its offer earlier than MB, which has lead to an increase in sales, topping MB as a number 1 worldwide.

MB is still on the top, in some things still well ahead the rivals, but in others clearly behind. A few decades ago it was always well ahead.

Based on what I´ve been told and been reading, MB knows this quite well, and things should change for the better in a few years, with the launch of new top end models, the expansion of AMG as a stand alone division (more unique AMG models) and the low end models pushed upmarket (C-Class range).

I think by 2015-2016, things should be better for MB, as some investments will see their return.

Yes the younger audience, but I was more focussed on the world governments etc. Who still prefer the S-Class.

But again, 50 years ago, every world leader had an S-Class. Now you see plenty of them, probably the most, but you can see 7ers and A8s as well.
