Both AMS and AutoZeitung have charts on their websites that show upcoming cars and both of them have CL with 4Matic marked on April. AMS tells it's CL500 4Matic while AutoZeitung says the CL will also get a facelift, which I doubt. Anybody have more info about this?

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

CL500? :cwm1: Hardly...

Oh and what facelift already? I think that's a load of :icon_bs:.

Yeah, I think that facelift part is probably BS unless it's something very small.

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

And 500...;)

It doesn't exist anymore, it 550 now...;)

Nope Tyc, it's still CL500 in Europe. :) Just like E500, CLS500, S500, ML500 and so on. MB felt that the 500-model name was so traditional that they wanted to keep it in Europe at least. Vehicles for North American and some other markets get the 550-badge. ;)

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

Yeah in France, Germany we have 500. It is a magical number in Europe, for a Mercedes. Whereas in the US, 550 is more impressive.

Ok, ok, my bad! Gee...:D

Thanks guys!

It only shows how interested in MB i am...:eusa_danc;)

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

Mercedes might just have announced its finest all-weather coupe. Benz is planning a four-wheel-drive version of the CL500, complete with 388bhp V8 engine, and it’s due for launch this summer.

It’ll be called the CL500 4MATIC and uses the most modern version of Merc’s permanent four-wheel-drive system, which has already proved successful in the S-Class.

Mercedes claims that, because the 4MATIC system is the lightest of its kind, weighing just 70kg, the new CL 4MATIC won’t suffer from worsened fuel economy compared with the standard rear-wheel-drive version. Both return a claimed 23mpg combined.

Yet with all-wheel grip, the CL500 4MATIC sprints from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds (0.1sec faster than the rear drive model) and carries on to a limited 155mph.

What’s most interesting about this is that Mercedes could now introduce the 4MATIC powertrain on its other, higher performance CLs. Can we interest anyone in a four-wheel-drive, 612bhp CL65 AMG for example?

For now though, the CL500 4MATIC slots into the luxury two-door range between the standard CL500 and the focused CL 63AMG. We anticipate a price tag around £85k. The CL600 and CL65 AMG stay top of the range.

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

It seems that there's actually a market for a 4Matic CL, otherwise Mercedes' would have serious plans to produce one. :eusa_thin

Not sure about a potential 4Matic CL AMG or a CL600. I think a CL500 4Matic is still within the limits and there are probably people out there that live in areas where AWD is a must during the winter so the CL500 will fulfill that need perfectly.

Mercedes-Benz is set to introduce the AWD 4MATIC version of its latest CL mega-coupe with the new model set to arrive this April following a possible Geneva Motor Show debut. The 4MATIC option will be available on the CL500/550 models, sitting between the standard RWD V8 model and high-performance CL63 AMG in terms of both price and options.

The permanent AWD system is based on the same set-up used in the larger S-Class saloon, which officials claim is one of the lightest AWD systems in the world, adding just 70kg to the CL’s kerb weight. According to Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport, both fuel consumption and straight line speed are almost the same as the RWD model, which means the 0-100km/h sprint is completed in just 5.4 seconds and mileage remains at 19.5mpg (12.1L/100km). Top speed remains limited to 250km/h.
The 4MATIC system features a planetary-type center differential and splits power between the front and rear wheels in a ratio of 45 to 55%. An integrated multiplate clutch ensures additional traction and the combination of Mercedes’ standard traction control and braking systems helps make the AWD mega-coupe one of the safest vehicles on the road.

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

Love that the AWD model is faster than RWD,if i were in a market for a CL500 i'd go for that model for sure.Wish CL65 gets 4matic:eusa_pray

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

A lot of S550 buyers have been wanting to combine 4Matic with ABC but couldn't. Now since the CL550 will be coming with 4Matic I wonder if MB will now offer the S550 with ABC and 4Matic.

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

Bentley CGT owners drive their cars all years around, even in snow and with a CL 4Matic MB want to target those people who like that extra torque. AWD is useful for people living in areas where they experience heavy snow fall during winter.

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

Well for these there is the Unimog. With that you can easily put the CGT to a shame concerning snow-driving abilities.:D Or the G-Class, bit faster on the road and hardly less competent on the snow...

Seriously, I don't really know why Coupe was not compatible with AWD. So I think that is a "non-event", because I don't see any problem with an AWD Coupe. Wonder why BMW and Benz were so long to offer AWD as an option on Coupes or high-end cars.

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

^^
Not many large cruisers comes with AWD. VAG are the only ones enforcing it. Maserati, Lexus, RR let alone Ssangyong offer AWD as an option for their top of the line rides. :D

But I think it's a good idea because in some places like northen Sweden slipping or getting caught in thick snow is not unusual.

Re: CL with 4Matic coming in April?

Yeah and you always look ridiculous when your somptuous 100,000€ ride is stupidly stuck in the border of the road and the guy with his 1,000€ Panda 4x4 does not even spin a wheel when passing you with a big smile on his face...:t-drive: :wave4::D
