I went to the motorshow, and you'll never guess what I saw on the BMW stand, a E92 M3! I was chatting to one of the stand guys, and asked when the M3 was coming to the UK and he said September, and said they had one in a back room, come back in 10 minutes and I can see it!
At this point I was so excited it was unbelieveable. I got a guided tour by a sales guy, asked him loads of questions, but he didn't seem to know anything I didn't know. The car was white, and to put it in one word, it looked awesome. The room the car was in had shiny black walls, and creative lighting, and the car had the side lights on, and it was an amazing sight when I first walking in, I was speechless! Parts that looked an issue in the press pictures such as the power bulge look great in really life, and it's really needed, the guy opened the bonnet and the V8 filled the engine bay. I sat in the car, the seats felt comfortable and at the same time supportive. The interior looks pretty much standard 3 series, apart from the leather dash. The car looked great from every angle. Interestingly the CF roof was black, compared to the grey of the M6 and M3 CSL. The rear looked very aggressive. The front looked quite like the M pack from some angles, but it's much more agressive. Annoyingly no cameras were allowed so no pictures of it. Only a very few people got to see the car, it wasn't part of the stand, I think it was there more for potential customers, than for young petrol heads like me. I was one of the first people to see the car as this was the first day of the show. The guy told me I can go back to see the car when ever I want, and the motorshow ends on sunday, it's only 100 miles to where the motorshow is, I may try and go again on Saturday, and see the car again. For you people that live in the UK, go to the BMW stand and ask to see the M3, it will be well worth your visit!
The motorshow was larger than I expected it to be, I've taken about 450 pictures, tried to load them all onto Flickr, but think I will exceed the upload limit, does anyone know a better site I can use? I uploaded most of the good pictures, as shown below!
Other great cars I saw where the Audi R8, that looked incredible and very low to the ground. The BMW 7 series hydrogen was there, one of only 8 in the country. The Alfa 8C, if this is possible, looked even better in the flesh than in the pictures. Comparing it to the AM V8 Vantage, which I love, I'd say the 8C looked better, and is the one of the best looking, if not the best looking car on sale today. I saw the MB C class and CL for the first time. The C class looks great, especially with the AMG kit. The CL looked a bit bland and boring to me, but I'm sure with the AMG kit it would look miles better. The highlight of the show would have to be the seeing the E92 M3, but that's only because I was able to see it in showroom trim before all you guys!
In fact, just in the car park, before I even got to the motorshow I saw loads of nice cars, including a 360 spider, quattroporte, 2 M5s, RS4, and a Bentley Continental GT!
If you are able to got to this event, I would erge you to go, seeing as it's free, and you can get much more close and personal with the cars in a normal motorshow, and there are a lot less people!
I also took a few videos (more coming):
