Mercedes is preparing to axe the CLC to make way for a new C-class coupe in 2011, Autocar can reveal.

Was this ever really in doubt ? The CLK is now the E-coupe, so it's pretty much a given that MB needs a competitor for the 3er coupe/cabrio.

The CLC wasn't even a coupe, more like a C-class fastback for females..similar to the E46 3er being shrunk down to create the 3er hatch.

I guess finally we will see a C-class coupe from AMG to go head to head with the M3 Coupe.

“We went back and studied what made our coupes so popular in the past. If you look at some of the more successful two door models Mercedes-Benz has produced you can see a direct relationship between them and their four door stable mates,” said an insider describing the new coupe’s appearance.

Interesting...that means we're going to see an upright, real coupe design like the old C124 or SEC or C140. I can't wait to see it. They should have done this years ago, a C-Class coupe with a real trunk not that hatchback BS.

I was in a focus group by MB and they asked about what the reaction would be to a C-Coupe etc. It's a done deal and will be in 2011/2012. They used a familiar chop that has been online to show it though they said that wasn't necessarily what it would look like. they asked what sort of features we would want, price etc.

Additionally I found out the C interior will be revised in the facelift and "to think GLK"

I hope they don't go nuts with the interior, because the GLK isn't anything to shout about.

If there is an AMG version it wont have the 6.3. But we were told no AMG at all.

Wow what an extremely odd move by MB. Can't they just wait for the next generation?

Seems like the C facelift is going to be a massive overhaul.

Seems like they have big things planned for the C-Class for the 2011 or 2012 model year. Hopefully the C300 will have about 260hp and the C350 around 320hp. Hopefully it will be the 2011 model year because the C is a good design and reeks of well-built sturdiness. It just needs some refinements, new engine, interior spruce up etc. A C250 Bluetec would be nice too.

I'm not keen on this idea hey. I think they should be using the new C-class platform for the coupe and giving it a normal lifecycle, even if it means the coupe debuts a year or more before the sedan (ala Audi A5 debuting before the A4).

I am not used to the new setup, little harder to check out all the posts.

They got rid of the post counts I think, so there isn't as much motivation for me to post now

Is this new C-coupe going to share the same wheelbase as the sedan ? The E coupe already share the same wheelbase as the C sedan, MB will have to reduce the size of this C coupe to separate them.

They did not have any specs for the C coupe, but I can't see how they could get away with both coupe being the same size.

Does it? The E-coupe looks much larger then the previous CLK and current C. :t-hands:

Yes they do, the E coupe has a slightly longer front and rear overhang, the wheelbase is the same, I put their dimensions together, have a look
