CLC-Class (CL203) New C-Class Sportcoupe aka CLC (Spy pics & info)

Mercedes-Benz introduced the C-Class Sport-Coupé (codenamed "Peanut" ver. CL203) in October 2000 as a three-door hatchback coupé, based on the regular W203 C-Class. The SportCoupé was spun off into its own separate line called the CLC-Class in 2008. It is succeeded by the C-Class (C204). Production: 2008-2011.

Mercedes-Benz CLC to bow in at Geneva next year

Mercedes will label the next-generation of its C-class based Sportcoupe the new ‘CLC,’ and will present the car for the first time at next year’s Geneva Motor Show. Several prototypes have been spotted undergoing cold weather testing in Sweden recently, and reveal that the new model will share the same basic shape as the outgoing version.

Though the car won’t be arriving in showrooms until a month after its Geneva debut, its mechanicals will be based on the previous C-class model in an effort to keep costs low, according to Auto Motor und Sport. There also reports that suggest the car will be built in Brazil rather than Germany. Click here to see more renderings of the upcoming CLC and our previous story.

article is wrong, it's not a new model, just a facelift.

Re: Mercedes-Benz CLC to bow in at Geneva next year

Sad to say I really don't care what they do with this hatchback thing. I can't believe Mercedes-Benz who just recently started doing things the right way again would graft the W204's nose onto a re-worked W203 hatchback body. Utter ridiculous. If they're going to do this the car deserves to fail. For the life of me I can't understand why we can't have a real little coupe based on the C-Class, thus enabling MB to move the CLK upmarket a little next time around. Well at least they're going to give it a new name, though we know what it is...a C-Class hatchback. Yuck.

Ugly, just like the previous one (regardless of camo), just like BMW compact...:thumbdown

Speaking of which, Eni, did BMW drop the 3er Compact?:eusa_pray

Re: C204 Sportcoupe spy pics

Cool pic! The (new) front is very well integrated to the (old) rest of the car from what I can see here. Feared that the soft lines of the W203 could contrast with the sharpness of the W204, but looks not to be the case.

I only find the lack of "character-line" disappointing, the side of the car seems really to be the same than before. I hope it will be a bit different, but doesn(t seems to be tha case...

The rear will be different also, let's see how it looks like!

Somebody knows about the interior, will it be W203, W203 but modernised, W204?

I hope the price will be low enough, because otherwise it will be difficult for Mercedes to sell a car that is an old model... Even refreshed... Especially knowing the big improvements of the ride and build quality!

Thank you eni. Can't wait for the AMG version, it will eat the 135i for brunch:icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool

I think I'm going to be sick. I cannot believe Mercedes-Benz would graft the new C's styling onto the old body. This is utterly and rupugnantly ridiculous and deserves to NOT succeed in the market. Who in the hell do they think they're fooling with this mess? I've never like this car, never. It needs to be stricken from the roster. Why not a real little coupe?

Re: C204 Sportcoupe spy pics

FUGLY!! they need to make a proper coupe or get rid of this piece of shit all together.

and it will also be ridicolous expensive so why even bother to compare them, im sure MB will offer another engine to compete with 135i. And what is saying it wont come a M vrsion of 1er?

Yep. This can be tricky.

Imagine this quite possible scenario: W204 C-class is getting great reviews, so Ms Smith decides she wants a new MB. Sportcoupe suits her better then a sedan, so she goes for it. But then ... disappointment. Where are all the goodies & features advertised in C-class ads? She is disappointed in a new C-class. Tells the story to her friends, and word of mouth hurts W204 C-class image. Then MB will have to respond with an explanation that Sportcoupe is not W204, but more like W203.5 - so will be forced to bash Sportcoupe to clean the W204 reputation. Bad move.

I really don't think putting new Sportcoupe on W203 platform is a good idea. I still hope Sportcoupe will be W204 based after all. If not this can be a big mistake by MB.

Re: C204 Sportcoupe spy pics

That could and probably will happen somewhere in the world. I'm sure MB will make sure the coupe has all the latest toys the sedan has, but the design will still be old. That stinks. I don't want a hatchback of any kind wearing the 3 pointed star, but I'm not in charge.

Sarcasm my friend. :)

Re: C204 Sportcoupe spy pics

MB has to do a better job than that (too late, is it?).....its ugly, hideous and whatever you want to call it......a W204 head with a C203 body :eusa_doh: :t-banghea :t-hands: Why??

Suddenly, the 1er looks more appealing.

It don't think it will look that bad. The front will be similar to the c-class. The body will probably get som character lines and C-class-ish tail light. So I think it will appeal to the target market which is mostly women who simply want a nice little benz.

Re: C204 Sportcoupe spy pics

Looks like the front just got changed - and that's it.

To be honest I wasn't expecting anything radical. Mercedes had long before announced that the next generation Sportcoupe would be based on the W203 chassis, so it was obviously going to be a low-investment product from the start.

In Europe, especially in Germany, the C-Class Sportcoupe was actually pretty popular amongst younger buyers. Basically there is still a demand out there for it, so I am guessing this is the reason Mercedes is continuing the car. :eusa_thin

I always found the C-Class Sportcoupe to be somewhere in the middle in terms of looks. It's not beautiful, but it's not ugly either (especially the facelift version). With the proper rims and colors, it could turn heads.
