| Mercedes-Benz C400 Biturbo (W204)? I was corresponding with my retired Mercedes-Benz salesman friend, Mr. Schultz, and he told me this: C400 - 4Matic DE also Benziner – 4 Liter V6 Biturbo Direkteinspritzer mit 408 PS. Null auf 100 km/h in 4 Sekunden!! Das wäre doch was, oder ??? I asked him if he was joking and he asked if read Autobild? Lieber Herr Wimmer, es stand sogar schon in der letzten AutoBild – nur - wer soll bei uns so ein Auto kaufen ? Mit freundlichen Grüßen CHS I will need to check this out, but basically, this C400 will be available in 4Matic and make use of a 4-l V6 engine with biturbo forced induction and have 408-horsepower. 0-100 km/h is estimated to be in 4 seconds. Like I said, I will need to look for this in the last Autobild. If it's true, it looks like this is Mercedes' answer against the BMW 335i. ![]() EDIT: It's true! ![]() ![]()

| Re: Mercedes-Benz C400 Biturbo (W204)? sure if they can keep the price down. A car that cost twice as much as 335i I dont consider a competitor to 335i.

| Re: Mercedes-Benz C400 Biturbo (W204)? I would reckon they should go with a lighter, smaller twin-turbocharged engine for the AMG version. A 4.0 V6 Twin-Turbo with 460 Bhp with two mini turbos for each three cylinders (just like in the BMW 335i) would do fine, because there would not be any turbo-lag at all and the weight at the front would be a whole lighter than a big V8 shoehorned under the bonnet. Besides, smaller Turbocharged engines are new trend from now on; because they are more powerful and yet they are more economical and pollute less than a bigger normally aspirated engine. Expect to see the return of the Golf GTI 1.6 with 4 mini turbos for each pair of cylinders producing 400 Bhp. |

| Re: Mercedes-Benz C400 Biturbo (W204)? Btw, AutoBild also reported few weeks ago Aston Martin was sold to LVMH Group. ![]() The C400 performance numbers are odd. Why? A non AMG car below 4sec? C'mon! And a C-class! A sedan! C'mon! What then the AMG cars? Or even AMG coupes? C'mon, SLR does in 3.8sec! So if C400 does 0-100kmh in 4sec. Will the C AMG do it below 4sec? Thats then in SLR range!!! C AMG in SLR range??? ***** But V6 bi-turbo 4.0L 400+HP engine seems possible - but not to take on 335i, but as a substitute to 388HP V8 engine (eg. instead of CLK500). It will be in a different price segment than 335i. ***** Regarding BMW N54 engine: why do you think BMW went turbo? Greater performance, less fuel consumption, lighter engine, and easier up-tuning. 306PS was a marketing decided output - this baby is capable of much more. And BMW is already technologically upgrading the engine - also due the stiff competition from Audi & MB. So expect BMW to boost N54 output soon. |

| Re: Mercedes-Benz C400 Biturbo (W204)? ^fun for those who just got their 335´s.. upgrade so soon obviously that 4s figure is supposed to be 5s so dont put any more weight on that There is no V8 in the C class..so it wont replace anything and it wont replace the 500 as the 500 is a classic MB engine..and a fairly new one at that..so it should get a bost if this comes along and the price class?? well MB´s are always more expenisve it wont be doubble the price of the 335 that is just nutts.. that like 80K euro then.. im guessing around 50-55K euro.. that is approx 10-15 K more than the 335... i would pay that for 100hp more ,,and most likely a shit load of more torque..

| Re: Mercedes-Benz C400 Biturbo (W204)? guys i think that in order for this car to be as praised as the 335 the actuall C class needs to be great.. lets see if that is the fact.. if it sucks it doesent matter how many hp it has

| Re: Mercedes-Benz C400 Biturbo (W204)? What an interesting thread.....C400 with a bi-turbo 4.0L V6 and 4 matic? If the HP estimates are true, then this car a big step above the current C350, 335i and into potential AMG/M/RS territory. If this car goes into production, the only way I can see it make sense is if the new M3 will be priced significanly higher than the old M3. Which means the C63 will also be much more expensive than the old C55.....which leaves room for a non-AMG C-class to fill in the price range between the C350 and C63 AMG. And there is no way they will make a non-AMG C-class outperform the AMG version.

| Re: Mercedes-Benz C400 Biturbo (W204)? I just can't see any of this being true. First of all 4L V6 is literally too big, the NVH would be truck-like and it would require Mercedes to really go to work on getting refinement out of it. Secondly, a 400hp non-AMG C-Class just doesn't make sense, IMO. I think that report about a SL350 with a 324hp turbo 3.5L V6 makes more sense and that will be the engine in the C350 after the first model year for the W204 is complete. I can't see that much engine/power in a non-AMG C-Class. If a C400 is going to have 400hp and perform like that then the C63 is virtually pointless. I'll go on the record here as having said that this is no-go, won't happen. Mercedes will update their V6s next year, but 400hp, nah..more like 310-340hp. M
